We had the good fortune of connecting with LaDarius Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaDarius, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
To never stop grinding. Even on your off/bad days never stop. Keep working to be the best you can be and eventually things will pay off in the long run of your dedicated to your craft.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am mainly a saxophonist but I have added more to my arsenal over the years becoming a podcaster, YouTuber, selling merchandise, and other lines of income in the music business. I worked hard to get where I am today. There’s no secret. Just work hard and when you think your working hard then that mean your not working hard enough. Definitely not easy especially starting my career in East Texas being an African American saxophonist. Came across a lot of racism and hate toward my music but over the years I have overcome thoes obstacles. I still have lots of work to do but made a lot of progress so maybe others after me and that looks like me will have a easier road. I want the world to know what real hard work is and how to be successful in anything you do and be careful what people you surround yourself with. I would want the world to know my journey to encourage people to go after there dreams if they are willing to work for it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well In a non Covid world I would definitely take them to deep ellum in Dallas. There’s a lot of music venues in that area and good places to eat. The Freeman has really good red beans and rice which I get every time I go there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my band director for giving me my first jazz album when I was a freshman in high school. I was always making up stuff during band rehearsal and adding on to our music in class so he saw the potential in me to become a crest jazz musician which as a jazz musician we improv a lot.
