We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylee Harmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kylee, what matters most to you?
Something that matters to me the most is personal growth and happiness. It it important to grow as a person because you never know what the result of personal growth will be. If you don’t allow yourself to grow, you won’t go anywhere. If you do not allow yourself happiness, it will be much harder to accomplish your goals. Happiness is extremely important for everybody. When you are unhappy, it is a negative block in your life which makes it difficult to get anything done and puts a strain on your relationships. When you allow yourself to grow and be happy, you are opening the door for success, less stress, better relationships, increased productivity and better health. Once I allowed my self to grow and be happier, things started changing in a very positive way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Pole Dance and Flexibility Instructor, it takes a lot of creativity when It comes to planning a class. It takes a lot of time to create choreography for a Pole class or to make the stretches flow in a Flexibility class. There are so many different styles of Pole Dancing, to name a few there are; Hip Hop, Contemporary, Slow and Sensual, Russian Exotic etc. Pole Fitness is a very unique workout that incorporates all of the muscles in your body and challenges your brain. It is extremely exciting to see how many people are starting to get into Pole and to see my students getting better and better. First getting into Pole Fitness was difficult because of the judgement I was getting and because of how difficult the workout really is. I had to tell myself to ignore all of the negative comments about what I was doing and to continue going to classes because in the end, it was something I enjoyed and that is what matters. After about a year, people started to realize that I was going to continue on this journey with or without their support. Soon people realized how happy I was and how much I was growing since I began Pole Fitness. Once I became an instructor, I started to get more support from friends and family, some of them started to ask more questions about what I do and even asking if they could come to a class. Pole Fitness is something everybody can do, it is very easy to make it your own. If you want to be sexy, you can. If you want to do more gymnastics based tricks, you can. If you want to do a Hip Hop or Contemporary style, you can. You can do whatever style or type of Pole Fitness that works for you and that is the great thing about it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To anybody visiting the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I would recommend going to Deep Ellum and Sundance Square. In Deep Ellum, there are a lot of unique small businesses and delicious restaurants to go to. Sundance Square also offers amazing restaurants, and lots of shopping. There are a lot of different Museums in the area to go to. I recommend going to the Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum of Nature and Science and the Sixth Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza. If you want to have a fun night out, 7th Street in Fort Worth has a lot of bars to go or The Nines in Dallas has live aerial performances that are incredible.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my mother for always encouraging me and supporting me no matter what. I would also like to thank Gloria Lavrisa for pushing me to keep going and to always challenge myself without giving up. Lastly I would like to thank Shine Fitness Studio for being a place that made it easy for me to grow as a person and somewhere I could go to when I was having a bad day.
