Meet Kristin Sutton

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Sutton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art lives in two worlds that don’t usually collide: voice acting and wine sommelier. It sounds unusual but for me it’s always been about connection — whether I’m bringing a character to life in the booth or helping someone discover their new favorite bottle of wine.
I grew up in the suburbs of Houston, the kid who didn’t quite fit the mold but always found a way to perform. I started working professionally at 16 at Six Flags, which basically meant learning how to sing, dance, act, and keep smiling in 100-degree heat. That’s where I learned endurance, improvisation, and how to perform while sweating like a popsicle on a sidewalk. It was like acting boot camp! All of it would come in handy later.
At 18, I packed up and moved to New York City to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. It was thrilling… and completely overwhelming. I felt like a fish out of water! A tiny Texas girl in a city that doesn’t slow down for anyone. But I kept going. I toured nationally, performed Off-Broadway, and hustled like everyone else trying to make a name for themselves.
Then came the plot twist. To pay rent, I took a job at the FAO Schwarz toy store. I had no idea that gig would change my entire life. They sent me to Toy Fair to showcase Powerpuff Girls toys, and right there — in the middle of a convention floor surrounded by plush sugar, spice, and chemical X, Cartoon Network discovered me. That moment launched my voice acting career.
What sets me apart today is that even after 25+ years in this industry, I still approach every role with curiosity and joy. I’m proud of the characters who’ve become fan favorites like, Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls merchandise, Hybis in Dragon Ball Daima, Aska and Lyra in Fairy Tail but I’m just as excited about the new projects and the new fans discovering my work at conventions or online.
Getting here wasn’t easy. Nothing about my path was straightforward. I juggled rent, auditions, survival jobs, rejection, burnout, and eventually a second career in the wine industry at Favorite Brands Distribution in Dallas. which I love as well! And by the way, that is why I’m known as the Wine actress on social media!
The challenges taught me a couple of things:
1. Consistency beats confidence. I didn’t always feel ready, but I always showed up.
2. You never know which “random” job is about to become your defining opportunity. So treat every one like it matters.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: I’m here to make people feel something! whether it’s nostalgia, excitement, laughter, or comfort. I love connecting with fans, inspiring new voice actors, and reminding people that their path doesn’t have to look perfect to be meaningful. My story is proof that you can start in a theme park, get discovered at a toy fair, build a second career in wine, and still keep evolving. And honestly? I’m just getting started.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited Dallas for a week, I’d show them the version of the city that actually feels alive. We’d start with a night at Pocket Sandwich Theatre in Carrollton. it’s chaotic, funny, and one of my favorite places to perform and hang out. The rest of the week would be a mix of local gems: tasting rooms in Grapevine, boutique shopping and great food in Bishop Arts, art walks through the DMA and Nasher, and evenings spent in independently owned restaurants, wine bars, and cozy neighborhood spots. Dallas-Fort Worth is massive, but its heart is in the small theaters, creative communities, and locally run places that make it feel like home and that’s exactly what I’d want them to experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I would love to dedicate this to my parents Cindy and Rick Sutton who have supported me throughout my entire career! And my husband, Chad Ford, for all his help and encouragement, .
