We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin, what matters most to you?
When reflecting on what value is important, not only to our business, but, but also to me personally, I keep coming back to connection. The relationships we build in life, both personally and professionally, are vital for our mental health and the “health” of our business. Without people, we have no business! I can truly say a huge part of our success has been due to the connections and relationships we have made with our customers and other business owners supporting our ventures. This was hard as The Buddy Lab started during COVID, a time when building connections has been more difficult. Finding ways for connection has been even more vital over the last year and a half when isolation has crept into so many people’s lives. In a way, our Buddies provide a sense of connection for those who purchase them. I have heard from customers who have said that their child’s buddy has become their new best friend- they take it everywhere! Some have said that sleep with their buddies every night and another even had a birthday party for their new buddy friend!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My husband and I both work in education- one as a counselor and one a teacher. We love supporting kids and find it rewarding to help them learn and grow. My husband and I were looking for a side hustle to bring in more income for our family, and save for our kids college. I still remember applying for a part time jobs as a counselor outside of the education field and my colleague encouraged me to take care of myself and find a side gig that was less stressful than my day job. That really stuck with me. The Buddy Lab is fun and provides so much enjoyment for us and our customers. I am so thankful for that advice.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living right outside of Fort Worth, I am so close to so many amazing places!! We would definitely grab food from Mama Cucas in Mansfield- amazing Mexican food and amazing margaritas! Our kids would probably been involved, so we would hit up all the fun, kid friendly places! We love the Perot Museum, the new Ranger’s Stadium, Oliver Nature Park, Fort Worth Dream Park, and the Fort Worth and/or Dallas Zoo! If we got some adult time, we would go check out Main Street in grapevine or check out some local craft breweries such as Community, Three Nations, or Lakewood!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our families! When my husband and I had the idea to branch out from our full time jobs in education and create The Buddy Lab, our families were our biggest cheerleaders!! Building this business was truly a risk to take and because of our families, we felt confident, supported and encouraged to take the leap!
