We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Contreras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as being a great opportunity for one to learn and grow. You will never know what you are capable of if you do not take risks in life. You never lose, you can only win or learn. Risk has done me very well. I love to learn new things and I always tell myself, “You never know until you try” and I can learn from this and if I fail, I will fail forward. Risk has led me to better opportunities with my life and career, has allowed me to make great connections with amazing people.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a bilingual realtor in the DFW metroplex. I help people buy, sell, rent, and, or invest into real estate. I love to sit down with my client’s to talk about their wants and needs, go down the timeline and steps of what it takes to become a homeowner, and inform them of how the market is currently going. I like to educate my client’s because I like to stay ready so we don’t have to get ready! Real Estate always interested me, I just never knew where to start. One day, I asked my mentor who is a Real Estate investor, how do I become a realtor ? He gave me the website and told me to study. I signed up and studied all online. I was working full-time as an insurance agent at the time and I was a single mom of two kids who were actively involved in sports. I would study after work once the kids were asleep. Sometimes I would fall asleep with my books and laptop open. I knew what I wanted and that was to become a realtor, I was dedicated and disciplined so I was willing to do whatever it took. It took me 9 months to complete the courses and I applied to take my realtor exam and passed. That day was amazing, I will never forget walking out of the testing center, seeing my test results, and getting on my knees and thanking God for allowing me to get to a new level because I knew I was about to change people’s lives. It was not easy at all! There was tons of praying, quizzes, test, sleepless nights, and sacrifices that had to be made to get to where I am at. What I have learned once you set your mind to something, you can truly have it. We can have anything we really want. Our words and mind are so powerful! You just have to really believe in yourself and in your vision and put in the work. What sets me apart is that I truly serve my client’s and go hard for them. I treat all of them as if they were my family. I research and use all of my resources to make sure my client’s are getting the best deal out there!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was in town we would go have waffles and mimosas at Snooze an A.M Eatery in Addison. We would then go play Pickle ball at Chicken N Pickle, and then go explore one of the biggest flea markets in Texas, the good ‘ol Traders Village. I would then take her to lunch at Vidorra to enjoy the fried avocado tacos, listen to the great music, and catch the Deep Ellum vibe with a view of Downtown Dallas. For dinner we would go to Village burger bar in West Village. Lastly, we would go out for some salsa dancing at Al-Amir.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give God a shoutout for sure! He is always there guiding me, giving me the visions and work ethic to be able to help and change people’s lives through Real Estate. I am able to help and guide people as they make one of the biggest investments of their life. I want to thank my son Izaiah, and my daughter Aliyah. They lit a fire in me that has not stopped. They love and support me in everything I do and even enjoy working with me. I work so hard because of them. I was a teen mom and my babies are a huge reason why I am where I am today. When they came into my life, I knew I had to work hard for the things I wanted. I told myself it has to work or it has to work, no excuses. I also want to give a shoutout to my client’s and family because of them my business keeps growing. They send me referrals that I am forever grateful for. All of my client’s become family, even after they get the keys to their new house. We all keep in touch, go to cookouts, birthday’s, etc. It truly feels great and I am beyond blessed.
