We had the good fortune of connecting with Korynn Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Korynn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my business, my biggest goal was to help people understand nutrition better. I wanted to teach people how to nourish their bodies without going on any type of crazy fad diet, and ultimately hit their weight loss goals. I wanted to empower people to dig deeper into their WHY and see what was truly stopping them from being successful, and what was under the surface that was more than just food related. After 2 years of one-on-one coaching, I realized most of my clients complained they had no time to cook for themselves and they wish they could find someone to do it for them. This was one of the big 3 reasons they weren’t seeing progress as fast as they wanted. I began taking on private clients for meal prep 2 years into owning my coaching business. I would match their weekly meals to their custom nutrition plans. I knew that if I could show them both on paper with a nutrition plan and also create healthy meals that they actually ENJOYED eating that they would see progress much faster. Think of me as the modern day Jenny Craig with whole fresh foods!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Meal Prep Nutritionist and Chef, I own Lovey Meal Prep, a boutique meal prep company in Austin, Tx. Each week we create delicious meals that follow a system I call “The Bowl Method” this allows me to teach clients how to learn portion control while eating delicious foods. We use the exchange system, which is a portions done for you system, this is available to our customers as an online tutorial where I walk them through their nutrition plan and how to build out their weekly meals. For anyone who lives locally in Austin they can order from us weekly. and we match their meal to their nutrition plan. We offer a ton of variety with 5 new recipes every week, and we match every bowl that leaves our kitchen to our clients macro/calorie counts. This means if you are looking for custom nutrition and meal prep to help you reach your weight loss goals we are the company for you. Each meal has a sticker with each customers name and nutrition information. This is what sets us apart from all other meal prep businesses. We take pride in knowing all of our clients on a 1-1 basis plus we know their nutrition goals. I am most proud of the amount of people we have helped eat healthier, lose weight, and most importantly they begin to enjoy eating more vegetables. This is ultimately my mission in life, to make you LOVE healthy food as much as I do. We take a creative spin on a lot of our meals incorporating popular flavors from more traditional dishes like the Philly Cheesesteak, Pizza, Cordon Blue, Street tacos, Sloppy Joes, Cheeseburgers, and more!
We have experienced a ton of growth in the last 3 years, we started with just myself and my sous chef Andy Smith, and now we have 2 more chefs in the kitchen. I have learned a ton about logistics, time management, and what it means to be a woman owned business during a pandemic. The biggest lesson so far is to give it your best, and treat every client like they are your first client you ever worked with. I also learned to have faith in myself and believe that I can be successful if I put my heart into it. Lastly, I have learned to rely on people to support me, and realizing I can’t do it all myself, and the people around me truly want to be a part of it and help me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come to town I love to catch brunch downtown at Taverna, then head to deep eddy pool for a swim, then over to hula bar for Hawaiian drinks and burgers! Must sees in Austin include Barton Springs Pool, Hamilton Pool which is actually a cenote, Lady Bird Lake for Stand Up Paddle Boarding right downtown, West 6th for Happy Hour, East 6th for bar hopping! Austin is a vibrant city, and there is no way one could see all it has to offer in a few days!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone that really helped me along the way to begin and grow my business was my husband Jeremiah Snidar. He helped me set up all of my logistics to have smooth operations. This included helping me learn to set up my own online store, business spreadsheets that I still use today, ideas for streamlining different sizes for meals, helping me research how to get health permits, and creating labels with mail merge. Not only did he help me with the business side, he also helped me emotionally and financially take the jump and go full time into my business, I will always be grateful for his support to encouraging me to follow my dreams.
