Meet Kortney Chase | Farmer, CPG Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kortney Chase and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kortney, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My Why. I want to offer pecans, a product that my family has been farming for 3 generations- in a healthy innovative way. I have struggled with my weight and health in general so nothing fires me up like bringing a product that I farm and offering it to people in a healthy way. I want the pecan to shine in a different way than just during holiday season and in a pie. The pecan represents such hard work to me and with my family being the largest grower in the world it gives me such great pride to be doing this innovative pecan milk idea and offer something like this to the American people. I want this realm of working in the health food space to bring philanthropy in this way into my life where I continue to help give children, and consumers healthy options and educate about the importance of farming our on own food and bringing a since of “cool” to the farming industry.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud to be an American farmer which is really hard to do in America these days. I love being a women (which you don’t see a lot of) in the nut world (lol) or especially in the pecan world. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to literally take the beast of starting a company – day by day- also becoming the healthiest version of yourself puts you in a league to be able to hustle for your company unlike the rest. As a women in business I remind myself to not create my own glass ceiling which big media and things will want you to focus on- sometimes I forget that I’m the only one that looks like me when I’m doing things because I choose to not focus on the ceiling.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would walk Katy Trail with my friend and then take them to a Hot Pilates Class at o2 and then an afternoon at Alive and Well to do all the health things– because health is wealth baby! For dinner I would take them to The Charles as I dream about their food- also a little sweet treat at- myobsession is the churros at Meso Maya are some of the best.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Leah Lopez was my mentor while I lived in Austin for 12 years and created this product. She is the founder of Better Bites Bakery found all over the nation in Whole Foods and other large retailers. She has such an incredible story. She showed me how much hard work building a CPG brand from the ground up is but how rewarding it is, when you fight for your why.
