We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted something that was mine; something that I created, controlled, and managed; I control its success. I control my workload. Most importantly, it’s something that I enjoy. Fashion has always been an essential part of my life. I used to mix my sisters hand me downs with the clothes my parents bought me to create my own look. I love mixing pieces together to express myself; everything from your classic fit denim, a blazer, and retro sneakers or even a ball gown. I’ve always had an eye for fashion, styling, or simply spotting a deal. I wanted to carry items that are relevant to current trends yet remain affordable to just about everyone. I recall desiring certain fashion items, but was limited by my finances throughout various stages in life. My boutique caters to those who want to dress well and still stick to a budget.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Luxe Mob is an e-Boutique catering to those with a taste for classic to edgy fashion pieces. We truly carry something for everyone. We are not just another online boutique. We take pride in providing quality items with durable fabrics at affordable prices.
We constantly research trends and generally add new inventory almost daily.
A lot of care goes into our items. It’s a very personal experience. We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases because like most, we’ve been on the other side of our own consumer horror story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a CowTown girl through and through. Some of my favorite haunts are in Fort Worth. My top recommended restaurants are Maharaja Indian Restaurant, Eddie V’s (home of the best crab cake you will ever eat), Yolk, and Killer Piranha.
Picnics in Trinity Park, shopping in Clearfork or Arlington Highlands are must have’s. Reignite the kid in you with a ride on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad or Forest Park miniature train. Bowlero Lanes is a must for that retro vibe. I’m loving the revisions at Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.
If adventure calls, zip lining at Go Ape or riding ATV’s is always an option.
Nightlife isn’t complete without TNT or Happiest Hour in Uptown Dallas, Sandaga in Downtown, or Scat Jazz Lounge in Sundance Square.
Lastly, wind down with mani/pedis at Culture Nail Bar in Arlington and an amazing hair treatment at Gloss Beauty Bar in Duncanville.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my children; without them I am simply nothing. My children are my biggest drivers for success. All things are done for their betterment, to set an example, to create a pathway for them to surpass every goal and every achievement. I have a great support system of friends and family that shamelessly plug my business whenever possible. Lastly, an amazing boyfriend who supports every venture, allows me to bounce ideas off of him at 3AM no matter how far fetched; providing nothing but encouragement.
