Meet Kimberly Flores | Luxury Balloon Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to leave my corporate career in property management to do something that brings joy to my soul. I was starting to feel depressed with all the drama and complaints that come with property management, and I didn’t want to rub that off on my first born or my husband. My family is my whole world and I want them to have the best version of myself, and pursuing this career has been the best decision I could have taken. I discovered my interest in art and crafts at an early age, as my favorite elective in school was always Art class. I was often recognized for my talent and some of my artwork was displayed in my community. Later I was intrigued with party planning, since my family would often host parties and I was in charge of executing the decor. Doing this brought so much joy to me, it was something I could do effortlessly. My favorite part of being a balloon stylist is bringing my clients vision to life. I feel very special when clients give me the freedom to use my creativity, because I like to make things extra, if it doesn’t WOW me, then I don’t feel accomplished as a creator. I don’t like generic or copy and paste, which is why I love my profession because there is so much you can do with balloons. Plus I believe every accomplishment and milestone needs celebration, we need a spark of goodness in our life’s since life already comes with many complicated nuisance.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This industry can be very saturated, although I think we all have our own style and personality that sets us apart from each other. At times I’ve gotten discouraged because it can be slow, but that just thought me that not everyone will be my customer. I say this because I want my clients to value my art and work, I don’t want to be known just as the balloon lady. I feel like throwing a celebration for others or yourself is a way of showing your love and gratitude, so I want my clients to know that even if it’s just balloons, it’s a detail that matters and I will take it serious.
This career forced to get out of my comfort zone, I had to get social and expose my company in a city I didn’t grow up in. Which made me meet some amazing people and thought me that strangers will support you more than those who you call friends.
I offer small and large designs because I like working with all sorts of budgets, I think everyone needs balloons in their life! As a creator, I take pride in my creations and I like to ensure that my customers get their money’s worth. I want my clients decor to be different and have all the detail they envisioned. Plus, I know how stressful it can be when planing a party, whether it’s big or small. I planned my own wedding! We had five hundred guests! It’s been the largest challenge I’ve taken on, but I enjoyed it! You may be asking yourself, why did I do that to myself. Well, I’m a perfectionist and I wanted to ensure that every detail was perfect on our special day. Which is why I want my clients to know that I will always go that extra mile to make their celebration all they envisioned. I’m a balloon stylist because it brings so much joy to my soul. When my clients hire me, I don’t feel like I’m working. You may notice I walk away with the biggest smile after each installation. I will do all the hard-work for my clients so they get to enjoy their celebrations!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off with Lady Marmalde Latte from one of my favorite coffee shops, Black Coffee. I would then enjoy a savory brunch at Tesoro Mexican Cafe. They offer a nice patio where you can take in some fresh air and enjoy some quality time where you can catch up.n\

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would absolutely love to give my family a shoutout! They have always supported my creativity throughout my life, which made me realize that my passion has always been in party planning. It is very hard to find your passion when the system is always expecting a degree and making us all generic. Additionally, I want to give a shout-out to all the balloon stylist, I’ve crossed paths with. They have all been very supportive and I have never felt so welcomed. I was honestly intimidated and never thought I would receive so much support from the balloon industry. It’s like we’re all in this together and I have never witnessed a sense of competition in this industry. Lastly, I want to give my husband a special shoutout because he gave me the last push I needed to fulfill my dream. He has believed in me and supported me in so many ways. He has even discovered his skill in wood working because he took the initiative of creating my backdrops and number marquees.
