We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I know it’s cliched but the answer is freedom, I learned thru many years of working a traditional job that I just don’t enjoy the monotony and the lack of freedom. I also realized that I have talents and skills that are marketable so I bet on myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a voice artist, I use my voice to add character to content. Think any commercial where you hear a voice that you don’t see or the voice of award shows or radio commercials or if you’ve ever done an online training and a voice is guiding you through it that’s me..well that’s what I do just to name a few things.

I have a very unique origin story that may be different from others, I did’t speak much as a child to anyone outside of our home I tell people that Im the most extroverted introvert you’ve ever met. I didn’t find my voice until I joined the Navy or should I say they found it for me.

I am most excited about fully coming into agreement with my talent and it’s place in the Universe.

I got where I am by being open to the possibilities of where my voice could take me and consistent in my training and growth be willing to be pushed way out of my comfort zone.

Nothing about real growth or any type of success is easy, as in any field there are people I look to for coaching and advice and it hasn’t all been positive but it’s all been necessary for my continued growth. The learning curve using software and equipment that is completely foreign to me has been really tough. But what I find is that loving what I do and knowing I have something to offer the world keeps me pushing to become.

A few of the lessons I’ve learned are
1. don’t compare myself to anyone else. 2. My best is absolutely good enough. 3. If you stay the course you’re efforts are rewarded with progress.

I would like the world to know that I am exactly who I appear to be and I believe that we should all use our voices for good because words carry weight and consequences so we have to be careful with that power.
I didn’t speak for many years and now Voice is my Superpower and I intend to share my message with everyone I can reach. My brand Voice Enhanced Digital Marketing and my goal is to speak life and light.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok well there’s a tone of things to do so here are a few of my favs that I can think of quickly. Now understand that I am and my friends are of a certain age so we do a lot of resting. LOL

oak point nature preserve – I love the outdoors and this is a beautiful spot to just be in nature and get some good exercise.

Ellne’s for breakfast – great southern breakfast cafe

Kiss restaurant in Dallas – amazing music with live jazz player, awesome atmosphere and really good food.

The balcony club for live music and open mic – quaint small but super fun and mellow

Musume Chinese restaurant OMG some of the best Chinese food ever and fried ice cream is delicious

Astute Gentleman Cigar Lounge – a nice cocktail in great atmosphere and if they smoke they can have a nice cigar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well truth be told there are a few shout outs. I am apart of a phenomenal group of women -Woman Building Wealth Globally and the founder of that group Denise Banks was one of the first people to really push me into public speaking she saw and heard somenthing in me far before I realized it my self. The second person is my nephew lol really one day a few years ago he asked me if I was on a contracting platform (Fiverr) and I replied yes of course an as i start listing the services I purchased from the site he said NO.. I mean for your voice!!!???? And although people had begun to pay me for voicing different things I had still not recognized my talent and skill in the voice over field I just thought I had a good voice and was helping out my friends with their business’s. The third would be my older sister Tara Porter she’s a business owner as well in life insurance, when she heard some of the projects I’d voiced and I told her I was thinking of doing it full time she said Do It!!! Dog this is your lane. She’s one of my biggest fans. And last but certainly not least my husband Jeffrey Davis of Astute Gentlemen Barber & Cigar Lounge in Addison, he’s told me so many times baby this is what you’re supposed to be doing, he put his money where his mouth is and has upgraded my computer system, software and helped me build out my office for recording studio.
