We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Muench and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is by Anais Nin, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud became more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Exploring who I am, rather than who others want or need me to be, is a practice. It’s only been the last five or so years that I’ve actively worked to uncover and address some of the limiting beliefs I took on in my childhood ( for example, I am not worth listening to) and intentionally shifted them to create a healthier relationship with myself and others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My book, Becoming Me While Raising You – A Mother’s Journey to Her Self is available on Amazon in ebook or paperback. I will be recording an Audible version shortly.

The title was downloaded to me a few years ago and I tried to write the content for a long time, encountering writer’s block over years of forcing it to come. When I finally gave myself a deadline and let some other commitments go, I could make writing a priority and finish the book. As soon as I was far enough along in the process, there was no stopping me! I’ve had a few dozen advance readers who have all had very favorable things to say about my manuscript, this has helped me continue to move forward on the self-publishing path despite not knowing exactly what I’m doing or how it will all turn out. I’d like the world to know that if you have a deep desire and calling to do something, you can overcome whatever obstacle you think might be in your way.

There’s not enough truth in the world as far as I’m concerned, through the book I want to be a conduit to change this and to inspire other people to uncover and share their stories and life truths as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d definitely go to the Arboretum, any time of the year it’s a beautiful place to visit…though depending on the time of year we’d plan the time of day carefully. I’d add a walk around White Rock Lake because I love to get exercise and that too is a beautiful place to see and people watch. If there was a rainy day to contend with I’d take my guest to the JFK Assassination Museum Tour and/or The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth, both are interesting and highly educational. If we needed another indoor option, the George W. Bush Library is a great place to learn and explore.

Taking a full day in Fort Worth would include Sundance Square and any one of a number of Art Museums in the area. Or, if we needed an indoor option I’d check out what might be playing at Casa Manana Theater.

Great places to eat in the DFW area, not to be missed when entertaining, include Joe T. Garcia’s in Fort Worth, Ferrari’s in Grapevine, Blue Fish in Irving, and Clink Wine Bar + Bites in Flower Mound.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom has been my biggest cheerleader! From emotionally supporting me through a teen pregnancy years ago to financially supporting and encouraging me into my now career as a conscious parenting coach, her faith in me (sometimes when I didn’t have it in myself) has been unwavering! The second source of inspiration has come from the many books I’ve read through my adult years. One in particular that has been very impactful in the last year is Bronnie Ware’s “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.” This book has been instrumental in many personal changes I’ve made since reading its pages, I have finished my own book, left the secure job I had to pursue coaching, and downsized my living space all because of the messages in that book.
