We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiffani Nicholes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiffani, what inspires you?
I’m truly inspired by every woman who came before me and worked hard. Cleaning or Housekeeping is not such an easy task. Maids are truly essential workers, and may not be viewed as such. I was taught from an early age to keep my spaces and self clean. Learning how to at such a young age, really inspired me to turn a hobby into a business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a housekeeper is a full time job that can be worked up to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Housekeeping is a physically demanding job, and a great exercise. For me it is my peace or safe space. When I get to clean I love to focus on what others may not see or over look. I take pride in my cleans and enjoy having clients say “It smells so good, or I haven’t seen my floors in forever. No clean for me is ever the same. A good house clean takes time and patience , and can become pricey if not properly maintained.I have learned that being an independent cleaner takes time to build a great business. I rather a slow and steady build than to not give my all to my jobs.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on when they visited, but if in September. We would go to the Plano Balloon Festival Friday evening. Saturday morning Brunch at Mexican Sugar, afternoon Six Flags. Sunday breakfast and self care at a Bob Woodruf Park. Monday go to the Perot Museum and explore Downtown Plano. Tuesday go to Strike and Reel for bowling and watch a movie. Wednesday relax and eat Rudy’s Chicken or Aunt Irene’s Kitchen. Thursday shopping at Willowbend and lunch at Kona Grill or Delta Blue. Friday swimming at Oak Point, night family/friends BBQ.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedication given to my great grandmother, grandmother’s, mother, great aunt’s, aunt, and all ladies I have worked with over the last 20 years. They have all been an inspiration to my success.
