Meet Ki Marie | Rap Artist, Writer & Freelance Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ki Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ki, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has always been one of my first loves since I was a kid. Like literally every art form from drawing, painting, writing music and stories, dancing, being a hairstylist, etc., I’ve always been fascinated by it all. I’m so extra and I’ve always loved expressing myself or my love for things. I’ve been writing music, stories, plays, painting, sketching, doing hair, & being in fashion shows. I’ve always told myself I would blow up off of one if not all of my talents, because they’re all things I truly enjoy; things I love that make me happy!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I’m most proud of is the fact that after battling severe depression after almost losing my mom a few years ago. I had already felt I wasn’t on the right path but that sent me into a spiral, that almost no one knew about. I began to build a better relationship with God, as well as myself. I’m just really proud to say that I didn’t give up, was able to get back to me and the things that truly make me happy. I’m so grateful to God for his guidance and comfort. Now I’m excited to keep my foot on the gas and continue to build my legacy. I’m going to be a household name one day! (Winks)
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not a really big club person (laughs) but I’m definitely down to go to a bar and get some food. I even make it a thing to go to a concert at least once a month. Museums, skating rinks, picnics on the lake, or at Klyde Warren Park. I’d even go shopping at NorthPark Mall, or Galleria Dallas. There’s always something going on here on the weekends so every month I find events or festivals I’d like to go to and go with friends or even on some date nights with bae.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my support team. First and foremost, God, my mom, my boyfriend, my family and my 3 long time friends/sisters. I’m blessed to have an uplifting circle that always encourages me to push beyond my comfort zone, pouring into me at times I feel defeated. They’re always there, literally the only people I talk to every other day if not everyday. The love I get from everyone is so overwhelming at times, and I just feel so blessed to have them.
