We had the good fortune of connecting with Khushee Vora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khushee, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Go with the Flow’s mission is to tackle the stigma of menstruation and provide free period products to menstruating learners in our community. Currently, we are situated in Coppell, so we decided to tackle the issue in our school, New Tech High @ Coppell. From the research and studies we conducted, we found a heavy correlation between the stigma of periods and the inaccessibility of the products. Therefore, our first step involved the initiation of a comprehensive project through a school-wide awareness presentation at New Tech High @ Coppell, covering topics ranging from period poverty to destigmatizing the menstrual cycle for both menstruators and non-menstruators.

Through this presentation, we were able to gradually reverse the negative perception stigma around menstruation among the student body. Moreover, it served as a platform to advocate for menstruation-related issues such as period poverty and lack of product accessibility. After all, we firmly believe that just as there is an unquestioned expectation for the availability of toilet paper in bathrooms, the same standard should apply to menstrual products.

Building on our initial efforts, we have strategically placed menstrual carts stocked with pads, tampons, and panty liners in all female bathrooms on our campus. This year, our commitment to the cause has expanded through a partnership with the Texas chapter of the Global Girls Initiative, resulting in the installation of pad dispensers, thereby advancing our mission to make menstrual products readily accessible to all.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Go With the Flow is a non-profit organization driven by a passionate commitment to address and alleviate period poverty. What sets us apart is our dual approach—we not only raise awareness about the pressing issue of period poverty but also actively provide free, comfortable, and quality menstrual products to high school students in low socio-economic communities. Our dedication to ensuring that young individuals have access to essential menstrual hygiene products distinguishes us in the realm of menstrual equity advocacy.

Our proudest achievement lies in the tangible impact we’ve made on the lives of high school students facing economic hardships. By providing free menstrual products, we are not only addressing a fundamental need but also working to destigmatize menstruation and foster a more inclusive and supportive community. Every product distributed represents a step toward breaking down barriers and empowering young individuals to focus on their education without the burden of menstrual inequity.

The journey to our current status has been both challenging and rewarding. Overcoming the financial hurdles often associated with establishing and sustaining a non-profit requires resourcefulness and a strong commitment to our mission. We have relied on the support of various stakeholders, including grants, individual donors, and partnerships with like-minded organizations, to navigate these challenges successfully.

One key lesson we’ve learned is the power of community engagement. Building partnerships, raising awareness, and fostering a sense of shared responsibility have been critical elements in our journey. Period poverty is not just a financial issue; it’s deeply rooted in societal norms and taboos. Through community engagement, we aim to challenge these norms, initiate crucial conversations, and create a more empathetic and informed society.

Our story is one of resilience, collaboration, and a commitment to social impact. We want the world to know that Go With the Flow is more than a non-profit—it’s a movement for change. We envision a world where no student has to compromise their dignity or miss out on educational opportunities due to period poverty. Through collective efforts, awareness, and continuous support, we believe we can create lasting change and contribute to a more equitable and compassionate future for all.
