Meet Kevin Moore | Owner & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I can’t narrow this down to one thing, although the most important priority for my wife and me is to make sure that our children put God first in their lives. As they do that everything else starts to fall in place. We consistently tell our children to remain humble and teachable and they will have a lot of favor in their lives. We have tried to model integrity for our children and oftentimes that means doing things you don’t want to do, taking a risk that you might look stupid, or keeping your mouth shut when you have every right to put others in “their place.” They have been given a lot of opportunities that most people their age wouldn’t normally have, simply by following these guidelines.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The most important thing to me as a business owner is to always act with integrity. The water treatment industry is riddled with fraud, lies, misrepresentations, and ignorance. At Texas Drinking Water Systems, we strive to offer excellent products at reasonable prices while providing industry-leading customer service. Throughout my many business ventures over the years, I have stumbled a lot. But, each venture has helped me to become more successful in the next one. While I have been given a lot of good advice from others, most of the best decisions I have made have come simply from reading the bible and listening to God’s voice in everything. He can see all the alternatives and outcomes, so I want to know what He has to say before anyone else. Once I learned this simple truth, business got a whole lot easier.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Burleson is not the most adventurous town and there aren’t many exciting things to do here. I want to give a shout out to Pandan Thai Street Eats for having some pretty decent offerings at reasonable prices. I would take them to OpenDoor Church where a ton of our “extended family members” attend, we’d go to the shooting range, and they’d get to watch my son and I play flag football in the city league. We host a young adult ministry group every Tuesday which they would be welcome to participate in. We’d take our scooters and drive around town. Who am I kidding? We’d fly to Aruba and spend a week on an island enjoying nature as it should be!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2017 I inherited Texas Drinking Water Systems from Otis Gillaspie. He followed God’s call into full-time ministry and left his business in my hands and trusted me with his nearly 4,000 customers. What a blessing to my family and such an honorable sacrifice on his part.
