We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin McCulloch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My biggest goal and what I want mine and DietMD’s legacy to be is having lasting positive impact on people’s health and their lives. I want to instill the confidence in people that they can take control of their health by focusing on the foods that they are eating while also showing that healthy food can be simple and delicious too. With rising rates of obesity and diabetes we want turn the focus to the food and our choices rather than focus on just medication as a band-aid.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my journey through the Dietetics undergraduate program at Texas Tech University, and then matched and completed dietetic internship through Texas Tech University in San Angelo focuing in Medical Nutrition Therapy. I completed 1000 hrs of supervised practice in order to sit for my licensure exam, and since being licensed I have worked in private practice in Addison, Tx for 3 and a half years where I launched DietMD alongside Dr. J Shaun Murphy. I also briefly worked as a diet technician prior to my internship at an eating disorder clinic that also gave my valuable insight into the relationship people have with food, and it helped me develop a more balanced approach to nutrition. The journey to get here was long and took a tremendous amount of work, but the success I see in my patients has made it all worth it. My passion is food, fitness and helping people and I am lucky that my job revolves around these things. The biggest thing I want the world to know about myself and the DietMD brand is that we are here to help you take control of your health through food, and together we can take you on a journey to a healthier you no medicine required.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Las Palmas for wagyu bone marrow butter fajitas Beto & Son for the fresh pork rinds and queso
Greenville Ave Pizza Co. for the amazing pizza of course
Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars or Rangers game to end the trip is an absolute must

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dr. Eric Westman who is a Physician at Duke Outpatient Clinic was a huge inspiration and motivator for me. His passion in helping people and focusing on food as treatment has been incredibly meaningful to me as well as his social media content. @Drericwestman on instagram.

Also, one of my best friends Spencer Smith who went into business for himself with custom clothing and runs an instagram @CFAclothiers was also hugely inspirational to taking more responsibilities on and looking to grow the business through social media.
