Meet Kenneth (D-Lou) Sikes | Hip Hop Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth (D-Lou) Sikes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenneth (D-Lou), do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Practice makes perfect
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make street but positive and Christ centered hip hop. I started off back in 2004 signed to indie independent label making music strictly do the street refelecting the lifestyle I was living, gangster. Rubbed shoulders, did shows, and made music with some of the great from Scarface, Lil Wayne, Gillie Da Kid, Pimp C, DSR, and etc. Was going to sign a deal with David banner back in 2010 but end up giving my life to Christ and changing my music. But I wouldn’t call my music strictly Christian because im not always preaching to the crowd but speaking to the hood. The same correction you give to dedicated Christian you can’t give to a gangbanger. It wasn’t easy to get the love and respect I get. I’ve been to prison on drugs lost record deals and etc. Even after coming to Christ I still had a hard time due to be so connected to the streets and my drug abuse. My brand is Block Knowledge Entertainment. It’s basically me going back and reaching to the hood. Showing people in the streets something beside the street and at the same time showing people that’s not from the streets the people who are gangsters are good people and just need some love compassion and encouragement
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to North Dallas to eat at big mommas chicken waffles or sharks. I would take them to my block it’s always something to see there lol. The most fun and exciting people and places to me is the inner cities. The best food, the most genuine people, when they love you they love you when they don’t they don’t and will tell you.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
