Meet Kemet Ackee | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kemet Ackee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kemet, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has been the heartbeat of All My Friends Are Rappers. From leaving the military and diving headfirst into fashion, to expanding into the craft beer world—everything we’ve built came from betting on ourselves when there was no safety net. I see risk as a necessary part of growth. It’s never about being reckless—it’s about believing in a vision strong enough to make the leap, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
Without taking risks, there’s no AMFAR. No brand. No beer. No story. The greatest rewards in my life have always come after moments of uncertainty, and I’ve learned to embrace that. Risk is where you find your purpose sharpened, your grind tested, and your identity cemented.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
All My Friends Are Rappers is more than just a brand it’s a movement built on authenticity, hustle, passion, and community. What sets us apart is the fact that everything we create is rooted in lived experience. I’m a veteran who transitioned from military service into entrepreneurship, and AMFAR was born from that shift. From the discipline of the military to the creativity of fashion and beer. Every product we drop, every beer we brew, every move we make carries that story with it.
I’m most proud of how we’ve been able to bridge worlds fashion, craft beer, Hip Hop, street culture and still stay true to who we are. Breaking into the craft beer industry, especially as a Black and Veteran-owned brand, wasn’t easy. There were and still are gatekeepers, a lack of representation, and a steep learning curve. But I leaned into the discomfort, kept showing up, and built relationships that turned into collaborations and shelf space.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that resilience is everything. You don’t need it all figured out you just need to start. Your story, your community, your drive… those are your superpowers.
What I want the world to know is this: All My Friends Are Rappers is proof that you don’t have to fit the mold to create something meaningful. We built this from the ground up with love, culture, and grit and we’re just getting started.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re definitely catching a Padres game! nothing like a night at Petco Park. After that, we’d head into Gaslamp for some nightlife and see where the city takes us.
A visit to Chula Vista Brewery, San Diego’s first Black-owned brewery. We’d hit the fam at Second Chance, then cruise through North Park then hit up as many breweries and taprooms that we could around the city. That will take a week by itself.
Golf is a must. We’d run a round in Coronado on base or The Vineyard in Escondido. Two of my favorite spots.
When it comes to food, we’re making taco runs all week. Gotta hit Humberto’s on 25th in Golden Hill, Tacos El Gordo always solid. And then El Puerto in Spring Valley. Those are for sure but theres plenty more. And inn-n-out of course.
Knowing my circle, we’d hit a local show. A few homies always got something going on. I might hop on stage and rock the mic one time.
I’d bring them by the brewery to see the AMFAR production firsthand show them where it all goes down. And we’re still gonna get our workouts in at the gym.
San Diego is all about culture, flavor, and community and I’d make sure they felt all of that before they flew back home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out my wife and my parents. They’ve been my biggest supporters, both financially and mentally. It hasn’t always been easy—it’s been tough on all of us at times—but they’ve always believed in the mission and helped me stay locked in.
I also want to recognize my community. The love has been real from rocking the gear, to copping the beer, to simply spreading the word. That support has helped push All My Friends Are Rappers forward every step of the way. This isn’t just my story it’s ours. Everybody plays a part in AMFAR’s success, and I’m grateful all around.
