We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe we can attribute some of the most incredible and valued aspects of our lives to risk. The launch of my company, Nine Supply, was a major risk taking moment in my life. Leaving behind a Marketing Director position to launch my own marketing agency meant leaving behind the stability that comes from a salary, 401k, and even guaranteed health insurance. To make things even more risky, I started my agency with a team, and the company we came from was our first client. The pressure to acquire new clients so my team could feel stability (and get paid) from the start was huge. But today, we work with many brands and clients across all industries, our team has doubled, and we’re able to operate from a culture of creativity and work/life balance.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nine Supply is a female owned and operated marketing agency. We specialize in helping brands define who they are a how to build a community around that identity. When we launched Nine Supply we felt it was important to throw the old agency playbook out the window and instead create a new model that supports a true partnership with our brands.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m really an Austinite so all of my recs are focused on that!

You literally cannot go wrong with Cosmic Coffee. The food trucks, the frozen coffee drinks, the space, the pups – it’s all a good vibe. Brew + Brew is my longtime go to for coffee or a drink. Via 313’s gluten free Detroit style pizza is *chef’s kiss*.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to every female leader I have worked for or worked with. Thank you for showing me my path in life.
