We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My mindset and lifestyle have transformed over the past year. Being forced to slow down and stay home opened me up to relaxed progress. As an Enneagram 3, I’ve always been a doer—chasing cool + exceeding expectations. However, the new me is trying new things (hello, gardening), and being willing to fail at a few of them. I’m kicking off the pressure to multi-task and focusing on the people or assignment at-hand. Practically speaking, I’ve quit playing by instagram’s rules. My life and my business are my own.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Margin Social emerged from a desire to share our passion for minimalism and great style with the world. We believe closets comprised of blank space (margin) and outfits that make us feel like the best versions of ourselves create happier lives.

We hope customers will open their closets, throw out the stuff that’s just okay, and intentionally re-build with staples. Staples can be worn in-season and out-of-season, layered or left alone, and are easily shared with friends when they swing by for a coffee date.
We have also curated a collection of statement pieces for the days that end with confetti and champagne.

In the fall of 2018, we launched our business from a small apartment in Denver, Colorado. One month later, we made a surprise move to East Texas. Our online + pop-up shop approach was easily mobile, but there were several growing pains as we adapted to our new market. Finding creative business owners with appreciation for strong aesthetic helped us to connect with the community of shoppers that became our customer base.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
