Meet Kel Bonton | Director | Cinematographer | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kel Bonton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my business, I had no idea I would enter the film and production world. However, my love for music and the arts led me right to film. I started producing my music videos and filming for college sororities and fraternities. Years later, I own a high-quality film production company with an extensive clientele list and notable clients. I offered top-tier services to small companies to large corporations on a grand scale. Before I started Bonton Media, there wasn’t a business in my hometown of Alexandria, La offering high-quality film production services that shaped the process behind my business. I am grateful I could be a breath of fresh air.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would describe my art as meaningful, impactful storytelling through a cinematic lens, which reflects what sets me apart from my competitors. Additionally, I am one of
the first that I know in the city of Alexandria (LA) to provide high quality film and production
services on a wide scale. I am proud of my journey because I can make my client’s
vision come to life, whether a commercial, brand video, or wedding film that will
last a lifetime. Over the years, challenges occurred, but I am grateful for God
giving me the skill set to persevere forward and remain steadfast. During my
journey, I have learned not to undervalue my work. I would want the world to
know that I am a passionate storyteller; as a result, my brand is a mirror of
delivering storytelling through real people making their vision a reality and one to
remember.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alexandria, La is a small-knit, family-oriented community with many unique activities and great food. My grandmother’s kitchen is the first stop when my friends are in town because there is nothing like a southern home cook meal. Next, we would go for a hike, canoe on Lake Buhlow, and end the day with a date with our spouses at the Hotel Bently or a festival. A few of my favorite spots to eat are Buckets Crawfish and Seafood, Smackin Mack’s, Spirits Food & Friends, Outlaw’s BBQ & The Bentley Room Restaurant just to name a few.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am genuinely grateful for the people in my life that support me without condition. My beautiful, loving, supportive wife, family, and friends have been there every step. My parents have played a tremendous role in my success, and I am thankful for the values they have instilled in me that I live by daily. One of those values is my work ethic, not only with my production company but in all things in my life. My mentors and professors have also inspired me in many areas of my life, shaping me into what I am today. Last but certainly not least, none of my success would be possible without God. He is my source and my resource. The people placed in my life are truly heaven-sent, and I am forever grateful.
