We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Avery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to create an environment that would allow me to feed those in need while building a generational platform that can reach near and far. My grandmother is my inspiration as when we were younger I used to watch her send plates all over town to feed those that did not have as we did. She not only shared her food but she shared her family to spread joy. I want that legacy to continue, I want people to know that family is your neighbor and a shoulder to lean on with a good meal is easier to find than you think. Food, Family, and Fun is my motto. Standing solid on my Arkansas roots and working towards the next platform on this journey to continue those rooted family values.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My current profession is in training and development. Each day for over 20 years I have enjoyed teaching different individuals the skills they need to perform their jobs in the most successful way. I have a natural desire to help and a personal goal to ensure everyone that I make contact with succeeds. This same concept is what drives my own business. The internal desire to help others. I choose to connect with others through food.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go eat at Tupelo Honey, Common Table, Gloria’s, Parry’s Pizzeria and more. We would visit Grandscape in The Colony for some fun activites and go to Andy B’s for bowling. We could visit downtown Dallas and The Star district as well for shopping and to see the city!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my niece, Keston! She is amazing and has helped me throughout the whole journey. She is the general manager and she is the reason we are here today on the brink of opening our first Brick and Mortar in Celina,TX. I want to shout out my family as they have supported us and given us so many ideas along the way! The first partnership we had was with Mumitas in Savannah! They made all our desserts and we have built a great relationship with each other over the years and they are still our number 1 fans.
