We had the good fortune of connecting with Keidrain Brewster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keidrain, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risk taking we can not go anywhere. We have to take risks to become successful. I took a risk on getting my CDL and it changed my life, I took a risk on getting my own truck and trailer and now I have a whole fleet. Risks are necessary.

What should our readers know about your business?
Brewster Logistics LLC is my hotshot trucking company that I started 4 years ago. What sets me apart from others is in our niche of moving shipping containers. I am most proud of the fact that when I started it was just me in my truck and trailer and now I have several with drivers. It was most definitely not easy as you can read about in my newest book “From the Streets to the Suites”. I overcame the challenges I faced by taking it day by day. Some lessons I learned along the way are that things may not always go as you plan in your head but you have to know how to adjust the plan. I also learned that building a solid team is how you will move forward. I want the world to know that my story is a testimony that if you really want to change after having a tainted past, it definitely is possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely make sure they check out breakfast at Lolo’s Chicken and Waffles in Southlake. Lunch and dinner I would make sure we hit up A Taste of Way’s in Oak Cliff. We could have drinks at Pangea’s in Garland, where the vibe is definitely grown and classy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley is a book I want to highlight. After reading that book while I was in prison, I decided to start educating myself which changed the trajectory of my life.
