We had the good fortune of connecting with Keerthana Rajasekar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keerthana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art and creativity have always been integral to my upbringing. My family had always encouraged me to advance my art and painting skills, right from my childhood. Finishing college, I did step into a professional career path for roughly three years before I decided that my interests lay elsewhere.

Creating good art demands time and focus which I began to understand and respect.

In retrospect, I believe, choosing to pursue a path in creativity seems like the only logical option because I’ve always possessed a zeal to express myself via art. These expressions, typically in my artwork, are a culmination of culture, nature and shades.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve drawn inspiration for my artwork from nature and in aligning with my source, the art I produce are always rich and varied in tonality.
People always associate ‘versatile’ as a tag to the products I create. And I concur with that in terms of the themes I chose. I’m driven to create subjects ranging from flowers and landscapes to architectures and abstract pieces. This versatility is my forte.

Establishing a plqce for myself within the artist community has been both interesting and challenging. The biggest question I’d asked myself was how to land opportunities to display and position my artwork. But with time and experience, I was able to solve this. Social media is a boon in this regard and creating an online presence opens doors eventually.

My biggest takeaway from my pursuit is to keep the fire in you alive and with time, success ensues.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Dallas Aquarium is my first pick and a must see for anyone visiting the metroplex. Having lived in Fort Worth for most of my time in Texas, Trinity River and the shops, restaurants surrounding the area in south Fort Worth are great. The Fort Worth Stockyards is another mandatory stop for time out with friends and family visiting. The location has a lot to offer in terms of dining options and entertainment. Finally, Kimbell Art Museum, a weekend evening at Kylde Warren Park and a day trip to the Fort Worth Zoo are staples in the itinerary.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Choosing to explore a career in art requires people around you that nurture and motivate you to keep at it. This comes to me from all corners of my family. I’ve always felt inspired, thanks to the critique and always blunt feedback from those around me.
