Meet Kaysha Wilson: Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaysha Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaysha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first started my business, I was just a freshman in College needing a job sustain. So I came across Ulta beauty, never heard of it but I knew it was holiday season and I need it to work. While working there it opened up my eyes to the beauty community, and I wanted to be a part to make a difference in woman’s life, so I decided to get my aesthetician license, and expand my knowledge in the world of beauty . After I graduated from beauty school I worked for NYX cosmetics, Bocia , IT cosmetics, Blushington, and have now have expanded my services with freelancing doing house calls for makeup , doing photoshoots , and working on TV and Film 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like what sets me apart from others is my style of make up and how I approach clients, it’s almost therapeutic. I’ve always wanted to create a space where anyone can come and just let their hair down relax, and open up about anything so that they can be free of the burdens for at least 30 minutes. Being this way has definitely set me apart from others, but has also had its challenges. Some people don’t like to open up they just want to service so I feel like it was hard for me to balance how I was so that I would be able to accommodate others . Being this way has open a lot of doors for a lot of different clients, and it is also open doors for me to work on reality TV shows and also on some powerful women in the Dallas Fort Worth area and that’s what makes me most excited, because they have excepted me for who I am, and in exchange I give them an awesome service . What I’ve learned along the way is that you have to be flexible with each client, but you can never change who you are, Learning to read people by their demeanor has really helped me with each individual, and I believe if you can do that then you can I have success for days. But I want people to know about my brand is that this is a space where are you can be FREE , and also is a judge Freezone to be able to talk about anything that you feel like you can’t speak about with anyone else. Also I feel like I’m doing it for the girls that in the past has low self-esteem and I think one of the greatest moment is when you get done with that client, and they light up because I feel so beautiful. That’s how I want everyone to feel when they experience me as their artist.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LOL it depends on the friend. Of course we would have to stay downtown there’s so many different options as far as hotels, i’d pick omni for a week of LUXURY. Next there’s so many restaurants but since we’re on the luxury theme we could go to Nick and Sam’s the food is amazing and the drinks are good too……( but make sure you got a coin ) Deep Ellum… A lot of hole in the wall places , and we also can eat while sightseeing. The deep Elim seeing is very interesting I think it’s the perfect place to take pictures and if you like music that’s a great place for that as well. Lastly we have to go shopping northpark is my all time favorite place to get the goods , it LITERALLY has the best sephora .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I want to shout out my Lord and Savior, because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be where I am today, secondly my family always supported me in all of my endeavors and that is played a big part in building me to the person I am today, also a shout out to all of my previous beauty jobs, from working at altar and learning about products and product knowledge, to working for a skin care brand and doing facials to learn about skin ingredients, and then my professional make up job Learning how to be quick, learning what works best for different occasions, opening doors to work with individuals that I never would think I I would be capable of doing. So honestly everyone deserves a shout out that has played a major part of my life
