We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayln Bruington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayln, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I would love to be remembered by the students I teach that not only did they learn a lot about dancing or theatre but they made memories and relationships that will surpass their “dancing career” and into life. I am all about creating the relationship and making better people!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my biggest hurdles was a personal vendetta, I struggled with finding peace that not everyone will like my business and the way that I run things, especially because Art is so subjective. I have picked up the quote over the years of owning my business, “We are not for everyone but are perfect for some people!” Everyone doesn’t have to like what I do and how I run things to change some people’s life. God will provide the right customers for me when I need them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We live in a very small town on the western slope of Colorado, but small doesn’t mean “boring” as many people tend to believe. We have so many beautiful things in our valley. One of my favorites is that our valley is completely surrounded by mountain ranges. It is picturesque.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My highest gratitude goes to the Lord Jesus Christ as He is my rock and fortress. The second goes to my amazing family who have always supported my career choices to the fullest of their ability. Lastly, I would like to thank my directors over the years, that have not only inspired me to be a better person but a better teacher, dancer, performer, and singer.
