We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Rosebraugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, can you talk us a bit about why you love what you do?
Through photography, I help female business owners create and share their stories as a marketing tool to attract their ideal clients. I love it because I like making an impact through the stories and people I get to capture. I love helping other female business owners grow their businesses.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I know there are a lot of photographers in the area to choose from. I also know that what I offer is special. I’ve worked hard over the years to cultivate clientele based on my commitment to an exceptional experience from start to finish! Here are a few reasons why my work stands apart from the rest of the competition… MY BUSINESS EXPERIENCE I have a unique education in art and business. I spent most of my career in the business world before making the leap to the creative world. This has helped me understand the mindset of my branding photography clients. They don’t just want artistic images. They also want images that convert. MY ARTISTIC STYLE Over the past years, I’ve cultivated a unique photographic style that differentiates upon first glance. Clients have described my work as stylish, light-filled, and crisp – which I take as a huge compliment! I photograph almost exclusively with natural light (from the sun), giving my images a creamy glow and flattering skin tones. My editing process is equally unique; something I’ve developed over time and continue to do on a daily basis. Many photographers have asked me for my editing secrets, which I rarely give out! I am very proud to say that many fans and clients are able to discern my images from others’ work upon first glance. MY EXPERIENCE With such easy access to cheap, high-quality cameras, many people are setting up shop as a “professional photographer” these days. With years of industry experience, however, I know so much more goes into offering quality photography than just a good camera and a website! I been photographing the world since the 80’s. I learned photography in the days of film. I’ve been in the photography business since 2013, and I’ve photographed numerous clients in numerous situations. My experience in nearly every weather and lighting condition, ability to pose for flattering angles, and quick customer service responses have enabled me to keep doing what I do year after year! MY SERVICE When a studio says it offers great service, it can be hard to discern exactly what that means. To me, quality service is a conscious commitment to putting my clients first. I’m here for you always, at any stage of the process, and I won’t be satisfied until you are too! I love having in-person consultations, brainstorming sessions, and sharing inspiration with clients. I also ensure that you’re all set for your photoshoots, your questions are answered, and you feel comfortable in front of the lens. When it comes to deliverables, I guarantee your satisfaction with your final images and photo products. I won’t rest until you’re happy with my service! That’s just a few reasons that makes my work a little bit different—and a little bit special.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’d definitely want to take them down to the Bishop Arts District to walk around and maybe stop in at The Botanist and Paradiso. A visit to the Design District would also be in order. Maybe dinner at Sassetta or The Charles. A trip through Deep Ellum to see the art would be fun. The Main Street district of downtown Dallas is another great spot. The architecture, the Eyeball and the Joule. Shopping at Highland Park Village would be on the agenda. Lunch at Patina Green in Historic Downtown McKinney is a fun outing too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Attending Peter Hurley’s Headshot Intensive and Headshot Intensified at his studio in New York City in the summer of 2019 really took my photography skills to the next level. Peter is a top headshot photographer in New York City. His clients include models, actors, and celebrities. His workshops are based on Peter’s process of producing the highest quality headshots in the industry. My biggest takeaway was learning how to build that connection with my client starting the minute they walk in the door. That connection starts out as a fine piece of silk thread and as the connection builds it turns into a string, then into a rope, and finally into a chain. When you get to that chain level you can really get the best shots because a great deal of trust has been built between the photographer and the client. The goal of the headshot session is to get an expression that conveys confidence and approachability. Confidence is conveyed through the eyes while approachability shows in the mouth. Once we’ve got that shot we’re done! Being a member of his online community called the Headshot Crew has just kept the momentum going.
