Meet Katie-Rose Watson | Creator of The Rose Table

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie-Rose Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie-Rose, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m constantly inspired by so many things! People always ask me how I come up with my Disney Dinners but the truth is, I’m struck like lightning by them. It’s the episode will flash before my eyes and I just have to turn it into reality. It’s the same thing with my recipes. I’ll just be minding my own business, walking my dog or something and suddenly I’ll think, what if I turned bananas foster into a cake?! I guess my imagination inspires me the most! My mother clearly never taught me not to play with my food.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m probably the most proud of my cookbook. I put my heart and soul into The Rose Table Cookbook! I know everyone wants me to do a party cookbook but it was so important to me to fill my debut cookbook with my tried and true recipes that I make the most, the dishes I feel like everyone should know how to make. So many of my friends have flipped through the cookbook and been shocked at how many of the recipes they’ve eaten at my house but that’s the point! I really do make all of the dishes in my cookbook. That’s why I chose them!
I’m also extremely proud of my new Fairytale Collection (shoptherosetable.com). I’m literally wearing my Rose Table Crown t-shirt and drinking out of my Happily Ever After glass after I type this! I spent months working on it and I’m absolutely delighted with how the line turned out. It’s so me.
The biggest challenge I’ve faced so far was being hacked on social media about a year ago. I lost access to The Rose Table’s Facebook page – my primary social media account – and my Instagram was deleted for months. I felt like my brand had been stolen from me. It was every content creator’s worst nightmare! I decided to move forward and film my Indiana Jones episode without my social media accounts – I still had my website, therosetable.com after all! – and it really was Iron Man 3 moment when I realized that I am The Rose Table and no one can take that away from me.
I ended up getting my social media accounts back right before the last Indiana Jones movie came out and my content ended up getting millions of views. Here I thought no one would see the content. It was a wild ride to say the least!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What a fun question! And easy too since my best friend doesn’t live in Dallas and I always plan fun things for us to do when she’s in town. Bishop Arts to me is hands down the best neighborhood in Dallas. My bestie loves it! I adore Nora, Paradiso, Mermaid Bar, Tejas, The Salty, Azucar Ice Cream, Marcel Market, and Denova. I love that you can spend a whole day in Bishop Arts.
The Harbor Rockwall is also amazing and only about 20-30 minutes east of Dallas. I took my bestie on a sunset cruise via Sail with Scott the last time she was here and we had the best time. As for restaurants, I absolutely love Sear Steakhouse and Giovanni. Sear might just have the best view of any restaurant in DFW.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shoutout to my mom for always letting me “help” her – aka slow her down – in the kitchen when I was little. I look back and think how much patience that must have took to let me cook and bake with her. She’s an excellent cook and she even threw all these fabulous themed birthday parties and Halloween parties for me when I was young and look at me now! Fun fact: I filmed one of my most viral party episodes, Jurassic Park, at my childhood home due to the special effects needed. So when you watch that episode and see me making dinosaur eggs, just know that that’s the kitchen I learned how to cook in!
