We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie McKnight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I absolutely LOVE affirmations; I have written 2 affirmation books actually so my favorite affirmation would be “you are allowed to be bold”. So many times as women have to been seen and not heard; when in actuality our voice is a big and as powerful as a man. We have fresh and new ideas that the world should know. So its important for women and men to know that you can be bold in whatever you do in life; if you arent bold with it; how will be know that you are there?
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently I am employed with the University of Florida. I absolutely love my working enviroment because I am still able to help people! Professionally I was in banking or 10 years but needed a change of pace because my life made a change and I needed to have a professional career that would allow me to spend more time with my children. Challenges come everyday; I am a mom, daughter, employee, I run multiple businesses so making sure everything stays organized and I keep my sanity is important. I am important to alot of people but most of all; I am important to myself. I want the world to know I’m DOPE is a place for good people to get together and grow, learn, and become everything your heart desires.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow if my best friend was visiting we would go to brunch at Peach Valley, The Oak, and Afternoon. We would walk a few trails and have picnics in the numerous nature parks. We would do dinner at Dragonfly or Harrys, possible Embers. Visit The Butterfly and Harn museums on the University of Florida campus. Make about an hour drive to the beach one day and listen to water.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to my amazing sons! They are so brilliant, intelligent, well rounded and resilient. I know I am not the best parent in the world but having them as sons makes me think God gave me a little extra blessing!
