We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Carbajal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kat, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Yoga is not a fitness class. You may know that many gyms facilitate yoga practice as a part of their offerings and it does improve strength, balance and flexibility greatly. However, yoga stems back thousands of years ago in the ancient caves of the East as a mind control practice. Yoga litterally means ‘the yoking’ or ‘union’ of mind, breath, body and spirit. First, we obtain mastery of the body through poses. Then comes control of our life force, the breath, through pranayama or breath techniques. Eventually mastery of the senses and controlling the fluctuations of the mind are inevitable.

What sets our studio aside from many others is that we are super intentional to provide our students with much more than just physical fitness. It is important to me to tap into the emotional, spiritual and energetic bodies in each class as well. I am so excited to introduce Katonah Yoga theory into our studio next year. My instructors and I will be going through training to incorporate our traditional hatha yoga with Taoist theory, sacred geometry, magic, mythology and metaphor into our classes!
It was not easy to step outside of myself and offer something that is so personal and intimate to myself, to others. It was not easy to find the time and finances to dedicate to my studio. However I knew that this practice saved my life, and I am passionate about sharing this way of life with so many others who don’t know that they need it.
Along the way I have learned that owning a business is NOT easy lol but it definitely helps when you are constantly surrounding with a practice that you’re head over heels for.
I want the world to see yoga the way that I do, as a transcending, eye opening and life changing practice! My body feels so alive and capable when I practice and my mind is so at peace when I’m not.
At Limitless Yoga we want to help you recognize your full and limitless potential, in all areas of your life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting from out of state I would definitely parade her all around Downtown Mckinney! Harvest and Mellow Mushroom to eat, Cadillac Pizza Pub and The Yard to hang out and have a good time, Lonestar winery to drink and watch live music, and Boho Moon Child and The Groovy Coop to vibe out with crystals, fun accessories and good music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without my first guru, Shefali Thappa, I wouldn’t have the yogic foundation and intense passion for my practice that I do. Shefali’s traditional yogic style really brought me back to my roots and allowed me the space to explore my own spirituality like I’ve never been instructed to do before. All grace goes to the instructors that came before me, and those that came before my guru, and those that came before them.
