We had the good fortune of connecting with Kash R Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kash R, how do you think about risk?
I really don’t consider anything risky. If I feel that way or my intuition tells me it doesn’t feel right I’m out. I never want to be the smartest person in the room. I make smart and educated decisions weighing all the options, researching and constantly asking questions from experienced people in that field. In the vast number of different businesses I own, my general rule is if I can wrap my head around that particular business/industry and see how to make the company better and more efficient I’m all in. Not everything I venture into is a success, but the failures and struggles I’ve encounter of trying something new and learning from it have paid an integral role in my success. The words I live by are Failure is Not an Option. What should our readers know about your business?
I’m an serial entrepreneur and I own a very successful development and construction company. In recent years I opened up my own underground utility, earthwork and concrete company. Recently I opened up a swimming pool and outdoor living division. Started a Stone Fabrication and Millwork company. Just purchased a door company National Door Center as well as a print shop Creative Color, and I own and operate hotels. The Passion comes from loving what I do and the excitement of buying a new business or starting a new venture. The drive and determination of seeing something blossom into and actual company or seeing a building get built, or development get funded. Meeting new employees and learning their passion and love of their job. I love meeting and learning about new people and listening to their story. It was not easy getting to where I’m at today. It has been a long road with a lot of bumps and bruises along the way. Overcoming the challenges along the way for me was all about mindset. Forgetting and learning from the challenges and looking ahead and keeping focused on the goal at hand. A lot of people I encounter sulk at stuff that didn’t happen and that consumes most of their mental thought and energy. I’ve trained my brain to forget about it (yes I do learn from that), but put I put it aside and figure out what needs to be done to make it successful. Keeping a positive outlook. I’m a glass half full kind of guy. Smart-Work, Determination, and Passion will get you very far in life. Learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward. Feed off the people that say you can’t do it or that idea is dumb. Listen to yourself both your brain and heart working together in making decisions and everything is possible.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a bit of a foodie and love a great scotch. Some of the must places to eat and drink are Campisi’s Pizza, Nick & Sam’s Steak House, Fuel City Taco’s (Downtown Dallas), Javier’s Gourmet Mexicano, Happiest Hour, & Moxy’s are my normal go to spots. They should start out exploring Little Elm great little tucked away suburb North of Dallas, check out the sky rises in downtown. See the city of Dallas from Reunion Tower an amazing view, AT&T Stadium and Texas Live. With DFW its such a vast metroplex that starting with one city and working your way around and learning the history and especially seeing the growth of each city is amazing.Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, it’s a bit of a cliché but I’m very grateful to God. With the up’s and down’s, I’ve had throughout my life both Professionally and Personally God’s always had my back. He’s put me through a lot of trying times, but would never throw anything at me that I couldn’t handle whether good or bad. Also, my wife Keta she has been there with me from the beginning and has supported my early mornings leaving to the office before the kids are awake and staying late nights at the office long after they are all asleep, and the weeks away from the her and my 3 kids, while constantly traveling domestically and internationally to get deals done.
