We had the good fortune of connecting with Karmen Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karmen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Food to me is art and I wanted to share my art with the world. The way I can paint plates with sauce or decorate with floral accents, fill the air with sweet and savory aromas, put smiles on people’s face makes me happy. I love enhancing old recipes an coming up with totally bizarre ones that no one has thought to try.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We specialize in events Catering from birthday parties, wedding receptions, corporate luncheons and anything else you can imagine. We also specialize in indulgent cakes and desserts to satisfy every sweet tooth. Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy but it sure has been fun. Every mistake made is a lesson learned and makes for a great story later on so we take it in stride.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely swing them by Qulinary Oasis food truck for some good, authentic TX BBQ then stop by Kitchen + Kocktails for drinks and music. Next we’d head by North Park Mall for a well rounded shopping experience. Attend a Dallabasas day party for good vibes, music to dance to and the cities hottest young adults. Next I’d take them to Laced by Lonice Spa for a day of pampering and dinner with Krave as the grand finale of course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My brother. He’s always championed me and encouraged me. I think he saw the vision before me and never gave up when I had doubts or expressed fears with entrepreneurship. He’s always been my little bro and I’ve always felt responsible to to help guide and be there for but with this business venture, he’s guided me.
