We had the good fortune of connecting with Kara Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of our brand has been the ability to pivot with up and coming design trends. We have managed to capture not only the attention of our North Texas market with our ability to create furniture that is unique to new styles and trends; but also grow a loyal YouTube following with those who also are interested in watching how we turn dated, out of style pieces into new-looking items that have a high appeal to consumers.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lemons to Lemonade Furniture began in 2020 when my husband lost his job due to COVID. Anxious to find a way to pay the bills, I headed to the garage! I began painting and restoring furniture as a way to stay afloat. Not only did this create a booming side hustle, our family was also able to pay off 50k in debt! In 2021, we started a successful YouTube channel to teach others creative ways to find financial freedom.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my most favorite places to take out of town visitors is Rodeo Goat! My family absolutely LOVES this restaurant. With it’s indoor/outdoor seating, relaxed stay-awhile vibe, the Goat is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail. And if you are hungry, did I mention that they just happen to make award winning hamburgers! Rodeo Goat is a “must see” on a Dallas visitor list!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to Christina Muscari @ Pretty Distressed. With out Christina’s support and teaching, our business would never have grown the way it has! She is a wealth of information and an all-around cheerleader of her DIY community. I am grateful to not only call her my mentor but also my friend.
