We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameron Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kameron, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I began pursuing a creative career the day I “quit” my office job. I loved being creative since as long as I could remember, but never had once attempted to share my artistry with anyone. I think one day, I got tired of always wondering “what if”, and realized life doesn’t have to be that way. I recognized how I saw the world from a unique perspective, which was my own, and thought it selfish not to share it with the rest of the world. What better way to offer a new perspective than art?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Lot’s of art out there comes with putting up this idea that we have everything figured out. My brand and my artistry, is quite the opposite.

Most days, I don’t know exactly what I’m doing or feeling (like your average mid-twenties, Gen Z person). I pride myself in the fact that not everything needs to make sense right now. Instead my art projects what everyone is thinking, but they would NEVER say out loud. Vulnerability, boldness, and honesty make up my art, especially when exploring themes of love, money, and pretty much anything that relates to life.

I literally have a song called “Some Things Never Change” and it’s about not wanting to pay off my student loans. Obviously, lots of us may feel that way, but when you listen to the song, it’s bold and there’s lines in there that just make you think, “hmph – I wouldn’t say this unless I was with a close friend”.

I’m super excited to not only show my growth as an artist, but take things to the next level, and foster a community of artist who have yet to take a leap of faith and believe in themselves, or are currently in the process of doing so. It’s better to realize you’re not alone, even on your personal journey. I got to where I am, by creating for no one but myself. The hard part was sharing my creations with the world, via TikTok and Instagram, and other social media. As I got feedback from others some positive, some constructive, it became easier to put myself out there.

Once I learned that no one is going to believe in you, until you believe in you, artistry became easier, and the journey actually began for my creative career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, we gotta eat! My friends are aware of my appetite, but they still get surprised and usually hit me with the “You’re hungry already?!”

Assuming they came hungry, where gonna get some good Texas BBQ. Hutchins or Terry Blacks to be specific. I love me some protein, and I love me some sweet BBQ sauce. I’m also a nature boy, so we’re going to all the lakes and creeks we can find and we’re skipping rocks. White Rock lake and Trinity Trail are my favorites. My dog, Soda, loves going on adventures so he would probably tag along.

Later we would clean up, get fresh, head where ever there’s some good food, and some cheap but tasty drinks, dance, since that place likely has a dance floor near by. Other than that, we’re more than likely just going where the wind blows us. Some days that could be Fort Worth, or Downtown Dallas, others days it might be a Buc-ee’s or Fuel City. Planning is cool, but sometimes, I think it’s a little overrated. (My friends hate this haha)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the love and support of my family, who knows what my life would be? It’s cliché, I know, but hear me out. I graduated from the prestigious TCU (Texas Christian University), and after ALL that tuition money spent, my parents STILL encouraged me to pursue my dreams, despite the start of my career in the workforce. My sister, Niya Athiena, a talented artist pioneering the Cleveland, Ohio music scene, mentored me at the beginning of my creative career, showing me the ropes of audio engineering and producing. My brother, Devlinbleu, encouraged me to push myself and consoled me in my moments of vulnerability. There’s so much love I’ve received from family and friends, they have been the sole force of my drive many times.
