We had the good fortune of connecting with Kam & Teri De Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kam & Teri, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

When we first conceptualized DELEON PROVISIONS we knew we wanted to be a resource for busy families. We know how hard to balance everything on your plate and still get quality, delicious food on the table every night.
In 2019 started offering weeknight deliveries of family meals which we continued to do through the fall of 2021. At that point we pivoted our business to accommodate the party and social needs of our clients.

Now, three years in, we are again considering how we best serve our family clients. We know from experience that dining out with young children is difficult. The children are confined, restless and bored while the parents are desperate for a relaxing meal they didn’t have to prepare.

Our new concept, The Shindig Food Park, solves this problem. Opening in 2023 at 3732 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, The Shindig will feature play areas for children on our ½ acre property and host a revolving line up of food trucks and local business pop ups.

We hope to be the “go to” dining location for East Dallas families, youth sports teams and the like. The focus on family friendly dining has been our business concept throughline and we’re looking forward to growing and expanding these offerings at our new location.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our level of service and one on one relationships make us different from most catering companies. If you think about catered events, you’ll often find that there are high end event planning firms and then there’s lower end establishments focused on pre-made platters. Our niche is the middle ground of serving clients that want to host well, while meeting their budget. We call our entertaining ethos “Casual Fancy”, which means that your guests know they are taken care of with your hospitality while feeling totally comfortable and relaxed.

Our specialty is working one on one to create custom menus with the appropriate amount of food, options for florals and styling as well as staffing. On the day of the event, our clients know they are in good hands and can enjoy their event.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If we were having family friends visiting us, we’d take them to visit the fun activities the city offers and the rich history of Dallas.
We’d recommend they stay at the Anatole Hotel and take advantage of Jade Waters, the onsite water park.
We would visit the 6th Floor Museum and while downtown we’d eat lunch and enjoy Klyde Warren Park.
That evening we’d visit the AT&T Discovery District and see the 104’ media wall and eat at one of the food booths at The Exchange.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We knew we wanted to use the StoryBrand Marketing Framework to promote our business. We worked with Heights Strategic Marketing to develop our StoryBrand script, clarify our message, and build our website. Three years in, we still rely on this messaging as the backbone of our communication and we’re forever grateful to Dominique Glanville owner & principal consultant, for getting us started on the right foot.
