We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalvin “Hot Sauce” Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalvin “Hot Sauce”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that being a Professional Boxer isn’t just about fighting and collecting checks. I knew that I had to start a business that I could highlight different sponsorships and have an avenue to display different workout attire, workout equipment, supplements, recovery products that a professional uses daily to be at peak performance. Thus, Team Sauce, LLC was created.

I also partnered up with Straightright Boxing and Fitness as part owner of that boxing organization to help guide clients, young and old, through their various fitness journeys.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My professional boxer business represents a movement. Team Sauce. It represents everyone that has had a dream, busted they a*s for that dream, and then see rhe benefits from it. NOTHING is ever guaranteed in boxing which I why I approach every opportunity like it’s the last.

Straightright Boxing and Fitness, my other business matter, Is way to introduce the sport to someone who has never even thought about being a boxer. We have taken lawyers, doctors, teachers, construction workers, accountants, etc and have used the art of boxing to make them not only fit but perform better in their everyday lives. Our clients uses the teachings and knowledge learned from us and apply it to their everyday lives!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fayetteville, AR is a collage town and the surrounding towns make up what we can Northwest Arkansas (NWA).

We have attractions from farm grown food to shopping malls, to entertainment venues.

If had to put an itinerary together I guess I would have to put one of my favorite restaurants on there in Herman’s Ribhouse. The owners Nick and Carrie Wright welcomes you with good southern hospitality and a kick in the mouth with flavorful entrees. Get the Wallace Salad wirh a side of Mac and cheese and thank me later.

Then you have to catch a Razorback Football game “on the hill ” at the University of Arkansas (my alumnus). Goosebumps from the Big A is all that needs to be said.

After the game warrants a trip to downtown Fayetteville on a strip of bars and eateries called Dickson Street.

And then top it off get your soul fed at Restoration Place in Fayetteville on Sunday morning!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor and coach; Kevin “Lights Out” Lightburn.

He is the majority owner and founder of Straightright Boxing and Fitness and has guided me through my younger amateur Boxing years all the way to my current world ranked professional career.

Not only has he showed me the ins and outs of the “sweet science” of Boxing but he has showed me the business side of the sport and how to maximize the income of teaching the sport to everyday clients!
