We had the good fortune of connecting with Kait Gatti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kait, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I used to compartmentalize everything—when I was at work, that’s all I focused on. When I got home, I shifted completely to family life and personal hobbies. But since starting my own business, that dynamic has changed in ways I didn’t expect, and honestly, I prefer it this way.
Running my own business means I’m never completely “off the clock,” but I actually enjoy that. I no longer feel the need to turn parts of my brain on or off depending on where I am. Instead, work and life flow together more naturally now.
For me, work-life balance doesn’t mean strict boundaries—it looks like checking orders on my phone when I wake up and having a play area for my son at my store. I’ve created an environment where I don’t feel like I’m constantly missing out on one part of life because I’m focused on another.
That’s not to say it comes without challenges. There are definitely moments when I have to make sacrifices, whether personally or professionally. But the flexibility to set my own schedule and shape my day around what matters most has allowed me to find a balance that works—for both my family and my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business began as a small online operation run out of a spare bedroom, and it has since grown into a brick-and-mortar location in my hometown. Opening a physical store was a meaningful step—not just for the business, but for me personally.
It’s incredibly important to give my best to the community that has supported me throughout the years. While operating online allowed me to start small, it didn’t provide the same level of connection I now have with the people around me. Having a storefront has opened the door to real, face-to-face interactions, and I truly value the opportunity to meet members of the community who find meaning in what I’m doing. It was not easy. Opening a storefront involves countless moving parts and requires a significant time commitment to maintain consistent hours and operations. Fortunately, I’m surrounded by an incredibly supportive family, and we all work together to keep things running smoothly. I’m grateful for their help every step of the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I think about the best places to spend time in Keller, I always start with Old Town Keller. It’s full of charm and character, and home to so many unique, family-owned businesses. I love beginning the morning with a delicious breakfast at Seven Mile Café, then spending time wandering through the local boutiques and specialty shops—each one offering something a little different and full of personality.
One of my favorite stops is a remarkable resale shop that benefits Christ’s Haven, a local nonprofit organization providing a home and care for children in need. It’s a wonderful place to shop with purpose, knowing your purchase supports a meaningful cause in our community.
Saturdays are especially vibrant in Keller thanks to the farmers market in the park. It features a wide variety of unique artisans and vendors, and there’s often live music to enjoy while you browse. If you happen to visit when the carnival is in town, you’ll get a glimpse of what makes Keller so special—it’s a growing suburb that still holds onto a nostalgic, small-town feel.
For lunch, I often stop by DeVivo Bros. Eatery, a local favorite known for its warm atmosphere and flavorful dishes. And no trip is complete without a visit to the antique shop on Pecan Street—a true staple in Keller. You can easily spend hours there, discovering hidden gems and one-of-a-kind finds.
To round out the day, I like to unwind with a walk through Bear Creek Park. The trails are peaceful and beautifully maintained, offering the perfect setting to relax and reflect on everything this community has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shout-out to my mom—she’s been my biggest supporter and the best example of what it looks like for a woman to truly have it all, both in family and career. She built a successful, respected career within AT&T and raised three daughters, and somehow made it all look effortless.
Watching her balance high-level professional responsibilities with the deep commitment she showed at home taught me what really matters. She showed us through her actions how to prioritize what’s most important in life, and I carry those lessons with me every day. She is currently business partner and mentor, I appreciate her guidance and expertise from previous work experiences.
