We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Crump and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting the Church for the World brand/band, was that I felt there was a need to bring back music created from a pure and spiritual place but, with a modern sound. I also intended to curate a physical manifestation of this pure and spiritual place at my own event and recreation venue, open to all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I intentionally push the envelope of creativity in my music and performances to draw emotion into any room. I purposefully perform in secular spaces to bring a sense of freedom, hope and light to people outside of conventionally spiritual places.

I am most excited about the trajectory Church for the World has been on for the past year. We are getting closer to sharing our message with broader audiences, in our own way.

My life as a professional musician has been more difficult due to my inner struggles; but, the more I get to do what I love, the more I heal internally.

In this industry, I’ve learned that freedom is your greatest success. The freedom to create your own sound, vision and message that can be shared and beloved by others is invaluable.

I want everyone to know that there’s no limit to God. The core of Church for the World is to bring faith to people of all demographics and belief systems.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The DFW has so many notable places. I’ve had the most fun and memorable moments as an artist at Deep Ellum Art Co, Three Links and Ruins.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate a shoutout to my mother. She spoke life into my dreams whether to me or through her prayers.
She gave me the courage to persevere. As she would always say, “If you don’t go, you won’t grow.”
