We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Belt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is knowing that at the end of the day, I have maximized every moment and made the most of every presented opportunity in my life. Some days that is more true than others, but I try to live this way everyday.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of Lion Slayers Wanted. My company stems from a book that I wrote back in 2020 entitled “Slaying the Lion: Hunt What is Hunting You”. In this book, I posit that we all are being chased by lions (which are metaphors for obstacles that we face in life like fear, addiction, etc), but that we have an avenue for victory through Jesus Christ. My aim in writing the book was to tell a little of my story while also encouraging the reader that we are in this fight together. I want to see people free and living life with purpose and on purpose. Out of that book has come by apparel company, Lion Slayers Wanted. The aim is still the same. Our company tagline is #wearyourvictory, and that its a nod to pushing people to tell their stories. I hope that by wearing the story on their shirts, hats, or whatever, that they feel empowered to share their stories with people and spread the whole theme of empowerment, victory, and community. We all have been through obstacles, but we all can be victors no matter what we are facing. To be honest, starting a business has been frightening. Thinking about sales and Ecommerce, marketing and everything, I have had a large learning curve that I am still working through, but the creative process is fun, and what sets us apart, I believe, is in our earnest desire to create a community of people who are supportive, challenging, and encouraging one another toward growth and good works while spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the mission.
If I could tell anyone about our brand, I would tell them that it is centered around motivation, inspiration, and encouragement. Everything that we do, everything that we create, whether books, shirts, etc, is centered around a deep love for people and a desire to see them living life to the fullest!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The good thing is that living in DFW offers endless opportunities for the “best time ever”. If we had friends coming in for a weeklong stay, we would start by taking them over to Grandscape for some fun, live music and great eateries like WalkOn Sports Bar. There are tiny vendors there that sell cakes, custom jewelry, and so many other things. There is Baked Bear for dessert, and the giant Ferris Wheel that offers a beautiful view of what our city looks like, especially when it is all lit up at night. In that same area there is Heritage Pizza, which offers the BEST BBQ pizza in existence! Truly, it is an area that can take an entire evening, or a couple of days to fully explore. Deep Ellum is a veritable myriad of wonders and good food, including making a stop at Insomnia Cookies to grab some of their varied delights! Of course, we would have to check out the STAR in Frisco and Jerry’s World (Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium) in Arlington. Cane Russo Pizza! The National Videogame Museum! The Texas Sculpture Garden!

There is too much to do to just try to pack in a week. Plan on staying for 2 and then we can evaluate later.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife, LaTricia Belt. She is a mother, wife, and Chiropractic student. She never ceases to amaze me and push me toward greater things.
