We had the good fortune of connecting with Julissa & Armando Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julissa & Armando, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is necessary. Nothing that you get is done without risking something. Nothing is guaranteed so if you really want to build the future that you dream of, then there definitely will be risk involved. You are risking wasting your time, your life savings, relationships… But calculated risks can work to your advantage if you know what you’re doing. We risked the safe and comfortable 9-5, clock in, clock out, set paycheck per week, days off, OT, benefits and having a safety net. But with that being said, the reward on the other side of that risk can be 10-fold. Especially if you believe in what you’re selling.
Risk has played a major role in our life, moving to a new state, starting from scratch and believing in what we could offer people would take off. Believing that even if things get hard, we will still make it work. Risk in asking ourselves was this “worth it”? Are we going to be “successful”? Are people going to trust us enough to help them get to their goals together?
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Repz Fitness was created out of the necessity to help people when the pandemic happened in 2020. We started online coaching because all gyms globally were shut down, including the gyms where we both worked. We needed to make an income to be able to survive and still wanted to help our current clients continue to achieve their health and fitness goals. In 2021 We moved to Texas, where we purchased our first home and started training clients outside of our garage, in addition to online coaching. With the end goal of making an impact in our local community in Crowley and South Fort Worth. After establishing ourselves in our community and the opening of fitness facilities and business again, we decided to take a calculated risk and build out our first commercial gym.
What sets us apart from others is that we are not a huge, big box gym where our members/clients are just another number. We know all of our members by name, we know their families, their children and invite those who want a more family feel to our facility.
At Repz Fitness, we pride ourselves in actually educating our members, both of us are degreed and certified with over 25 years of combined training experience. People are here to get results and we consider Repz Fitness a training gym. Thats where the name of our gym comes from. You don’t get anything in life without putting in the Repz. Our mantra, “Relentless Repetition, Breeds Results” comes from the belief that you can do anything you put your mind to through hard work, consistency and dedication.
We are excited about being able to inspire others and really make a lasting change in their lives. We know not everyone has the drive, and motivation is fleeting, but this is why we are here. To help those who struggle with their body image, confidence, those who want to perform better on the field or specific physical endeavors like being a better athlete, running a marathon or even competing in a fitness competition. We are here to be that extra 40% on days our clients and members may only be feeling 60%.
We got to where we are today by creating a product that shows people we truly do care about their success. It wasn’t easy, we literally built this business and brand from the ground up. From purchasing 4, 40ft shipping containers and acquiring gym equipment over a 5-year span. Timing was difficult, we had wanted to do this before the pandemic but a blessing in disguise as we would have not been able to operate those months when the entire world was shut down.
We’ve learned that anything in life requires some sort of sacrifice but sacrifice now and reap your rewards later-delayed gratification. We’ve learned to be patient and to trust the timing of God’s plan.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my spouse for being a rock. The long days, the sacrifice required, the faith, the endless support and encouragement- especially the no quit attitude when we though we couldn’t do it. Sometimes you second guess yourself and your abilities even though you know deep down that you can make things happen. So, thank you!
