We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan C Caamano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan C, how do you think about risk?
Well I think it’s really important to really believe in yourself, in your skills, your knowledge, and your potential, and the way I’ve got more confidence in myself was by just preparing, getting better at what I do in every possible way, learning from the best, and being teachable. That way, you are more able to take risks and have a better chance to make it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born in El Paso, Tx, and raised in Juarez City, Mexico. In 2020, I decided to move to Hobbs, Nm. I mainly wanted to find myself. 2019 was a tough year for me where I faced my bad habits, and I decided to make a change for good. I paused my school career for a year, and I was planning to work in the oilfield and save some money for some projects. However, the Covid pandemic happened, and all my plans changed. I started working in a restaurant, and after half year, I heard about the New Mexico Junior College and decided to take a look at what they offer. I found this really cool program called Entertainment and Music Technology where you basically learn about audio engineering and video production. Then, I read that you have access to all kind of professional audio and video equipment to work on your own projects and I thought it would be cool to use my beatboxing skills to produce something cool, so I decided to get enrolled. In 2021, I took one of the classes that was part of the program which was Digital Photography. I didn’t know anything about how to use a camera, but somehow I had a really good sense in how to take pictures composition wise. Thus, I fell in love with the feeling of taking great pictures and learning how to get better. Nowadays, I am about to graduate this next May, and it’s been an incredible journey to develop my skills little by little and collaborating with amazing people. I started my own business company called JC Caamano Productions where I offer my photography and video services for weddings, XV parties, tv commercials and music videos. I used all of this knowledge to produce my own music videos using my beatbox routines. You can find my first release called “Wam – Ya no quiero frenar” in my YouTube channel “Wam Hernandez”. I am currently in a music video competition “Beatmx” which you can also find in YouTube like that which consist in doing your best beatbox routines in a music video format. In this journey, it wasn’t easy, and I had to take a lot of risks. I quit an estable job to focus on my photography career which has been a big challenge since I was just staring and not a lot of people knew me, but that situation pushed me to find ways to keep going. Such as offering my services to local businesses. This brought me great opportunities like taking pictures for the menu of a great Hobbs’ restaurant called “Maria Bonita Mexican Grill”. This was a year and a half ago, and two days ago I did a video commercial for them and I am currently working in a second one.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to eat to Maria Bonita Mexican Grill
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank everybody who believed in me and supported me. Especially my amazing family and friends.
