We had the good fortune of connecting with Josie Singleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
A passion for the Fort Worth food scene inspired the creation of my business, Eat This Fort Worth Food Tours. I love leading guests and helping them discover what makes the food scene in Fort Worth so special by visiting local favorites and hidden gems. In my extensive travels I always connect with new places by eating and learning about the local cuisine.

Through stories about the the owners and chefs and cuisine of each place we visit guests can get to know the authentic Fort Worth. As a visitor or local there’s no way to know about all the Fort Worth places that make it unique unless you’ve done lots of research or lived here for years. An Eat This Fort Worth Food Tour gives you an insider’s look to the city through it’s food. Tour goers also get the opportunity to connect with other foodies, travelers and locals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my business apart is that it’s more than food. It’s about connection and making memories. My business has taken a pause during Covid but I’ve offered self-guided tour packages that allow folks to explore on their own. Starting a business from scratch isn’t easy especially when you are trying to get the word out about your business. Fortunately, I’ve relied on past clients and friends to provide word of mouth marketing and testimonials. I’ve had to learn to continually adapt to solve problems. Eat This Fort Worth Food Tours offers a unique culinary experience with opportunities for connection and discovery.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start off a weekend in Fort Worth, the Trinity Trails specifically the area by Airfield Falls is a great little urban hike that gives you a view of one of the few natural waterfalls in North Texas. After working up an appetite on the trails, stop by Salsa Limon in the River District for breakfast tacos. Then it’s time for vintage and record shopping at Doc’s Records where you’ll find perfectly worn in cowboy boots and the pearl snaps to go along with them. Then stroll on over to Gifted where you can find a perfectly curated gift for someone special or yourself! Around the corner from Gifted, there’s a small museum called the Leonard museum where you can get a glimpse into Fort Worth from about 1917 to 1970. Then it’s time to eat again and this time we are headed to Dayne’s Craft BBQ inside of Lola’s Trailer Park withing walking distance. Once you get your BBQ, it’s time to enjoy the live music that’s usually happening on the weekend. Now it’s time to head on over for to the Near Southside and stroll along Magnolia avenue for shopping stores like Etico, Fort Worth Locals and Vintage 817 Hype. A stop at Melt Ice Creams is a must-do. Next, it’s time to head over to South Main Village to explore one of the many breweries in the area that include Rahr and Sons, Hop Fusion, Funky Picnic and Locust Cider. If there’s time, visit longtime Fort Worth based businesses along South Vickery that include the Best Maid Pickle Emporium, the Justin Boot Outlet and the Dickies Retail store. Close out your retail shopping with the delightful merchandise at Morgan Mercantile. Dinner will be on the rooftop at Tinie’s Mexican Cuisine to enjoy sophisticated Mexico City-inspired fare. From there, walk on over to Tulips for live music, excellent craft cocktails and a vibrant patio punctuated by a colorful mural by local artist Mariell Guzman.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shout-out to my group of fellow female entrepreneurs who encouraged and advised me along my journey. There are too many to name but the female entrepreneur community in Fort Worth is strong and supportive. Visit Fort Worth also provided much support during my launch events as well as opportunities to share my tours with other tourism professionals visiting Fort Worth.
