We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Winch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Indie-film more that any other media is a speculative venture. Hollywood has formulas for success, and investors with large capital pools.
Indie-filmakers are risk takers just by what they do and want to do. There are not stars or backers or formulas. There is just risking money you may have put in a 401k or an IRA to tell the story.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have spent my whole life wanting to make movies. It has absolutely been the hardest thing I have ever done. Even after a million DVDs sold worldwide, I still have to fight for every project. I still love fighting for every project, I still love seeing every film released.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dallas has great restaurants and some of the most unique night life in the country. We would probably start with Texas BBQ and then check out a place like Six Springs, The Haltom, or The Grapevine.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Dallas Independent film community, Indie-filmakers world wide, Sheri Davis, Michael Crum, Gerald Crum, Chaz Buchanan, Uncork’d, ITN, Summer Hill Films, my mom, Rocky Dulac, and Six Springs tavern
