Meet Joshua Eng | Senior at Frisco High School

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Eng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
During high school, I interned at real estate firms such as Old Capital and TS Asset. During both internships, apartment/property inspections were a central part of determining the value of the apartment. I mean, you don’t want to spend millions on an apartment you’ve never seen! One problem we, and especially I, ran into during these inspections was my handwriting. When you’re walking around an apartment during the Texas Summer, looking at different parts of the property in seconds, handwriting is the least of your concerns. However, this left my clipboard looking like a disorganized mess! Instead of taking penmanship classes, I designed a tool that lets you type on your phone or speak your notes instead of writing them down. In addition, the website’s AI converts these notes into shareable PDF reports you can send to other investors.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Outside of being a student, I am involved in the Multicultural Program. In my school’s program, I am a Student Lead, which means I lead the organization for our school’s Multicultural Night and smaller cultural celebrations throughout the year. Last year’s celebration even had over 200 students, parents, and performers, which I believe is higher than previous years. In addition to the Multicultural program, I also lead the ESL Tutoring program, which connects National Honor Society tutors with ESL students. As part of the program, I lead weekly check-in meetings for tutors as well as morning meetings where NHS tutors can tutor struggling students in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Outside of school, I was recently involved with Wharton’s undergraduate real estate club (WUREC). For WUREC, I researched Dallas Real Estate companies for their upcoming trek and wrote an article discussing AI’s effects on real estate and housing, which was published on their website. The biggest challenge throughout all of this was really learning how to divide my time between so many things that I love to do. One lesson I’ve learned is that work isn’t just about putting the most hours in. It’s always important to use your time as efficiently as possible through organization and collaboration. Another way to solve this challenge is to do the things you love, which I think I’ve really taken to heart since I really don’t mind spending hours on these activities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend from outside DFW were visiting the area for a day, I’d take them to Chick-fil-A for breakfast. Then I would take them to the new Frisco Public Library and The Star. For lunch, I would take them to Sushimasa, which is an All-you-can-eat sushi spot. For the rest of the day, we could watch a movie at the Stonebriar Mall AMC theatre and then walk around.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out Mrs. Juarez, who is an ESL teacher at Frisco High School and is the supervisor for the Multicultural and ESL Tutoring Programs. She’s really been instrumental in my growth as a leader. In my Junior year, she took a chance by putting me in a leadership role for the ESL tutoring program even though I had no leadership experience. Since then, she’s given me a lot of responsibility in leading both the Multicultural and ESL tutoring programs, which has given me extensive experience in organization and leadership. Outside of Frisco High School, Mrs. Juarez is also the Founder and CEO of Hispanohablantes, which supports and empowers Spanish-speaking Texans. Overall, Mrs. Juarez is incredibly hard-working, and without her, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
