We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Blocker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I just wanted to know how I could really change the world and make people feel better or just feel in general. As an actor, I never dreamed of owning my own business because I never seen it done. But I realized my life, my ability to make people laugh, evoke emotions, tell story, and impact lives was larger than myself. Entertainment was that for me…. IS THAT FOR ME. Storytelling has the power to change LIVES

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Daway Entertainment we aim to – Provide Entertainment in and through all forms of media. – Provide escape and retreat for Real people who are broken, feel lost, hopeless but provide healing to them while away from reality so that when they do return they are better and see differently. – Make room for the ones who feel like they aren’t welcomed, don’t have enough, who lacked resources but have the raw talent and skill. – Bring an element of carefulness to what we produce as entertainment. To have purpose and intention in content that is unselfish, but of the greater good. Our Mission statement is as follows: “Daway Entertainment: Restoring the sanctity of the entertainment world through truth, purpose, and intention by making room for and affording creative artists, who hold the raw talent & skill but lack the resources, the opportunity, the blank canvas, and the tools to create. All the while offer worlds of retreat and escape to real people, who face real things, by providing representative and relevant entertainment to them through all forms of media. To be the place where kingdom creativity thrives” I’m Most proud of the IMPACT we have. Hearing people from all over tell me how their lives and perspectives of life have been changed or how they’ve been inspired by watching what I accomplish it means the world to me. I got where I am today afraid.. I did it scared, broken, clueless… but I have great people around me. We help each other out, we ask each other questions and peer review. Along the way I learned that QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION for true Trailblazers… your Obstacles are nothing but Opportunities. I want the world to know that YOU MATTER, Your Voice, your Life, Your Story no matter how raw, undone, or broken it is!! Your Pain is Someone else’s antidote.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m Such a Homebody.. But I would definitely take them to Lolo’s Chicken & Waffles in Southlake.. That Catfish and Blue Kool-Aid is to die for. I would run a Spades tournament or Game night at my house, I really don’t go out.. unless it’s to a friends house. I cook, Have drinks at home. So it would definitely be a new experience for the both of us. Ida Claire’s in Addison is a Nice Brunch spot. I also Love skating, Bowling, pretty much anything competitive

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out My Pastor and My Friend. Apostle Tina Williams of LOVNation Church. Without her, I would not be where I am today. She inspired me and one thing she told me one day that I will never forget. “Josh, God Really believes in You.” That sparked a fire in my life that hasn’t ever been quenched.
