We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Bonilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ever since I was little I was always into visiting theme parks and riding rides. I also had a side hobby of filming everything I did, making small home movies for the family to watch. Back then it wasn’t too common to see a roller coaster niche on YouTube and when it started to become popular none seemed to focus on the region I lived in. I almost felt like Texas parks went under the radar. So with the Combination of me loving to edit and create “movies” I decided to “do it myself” and create a YouTube channel in Texas covering the closest theme park next to me, six flags over Texas. It started small but after one video blew up I realized this could be a real career. Eventually the channel gained traction and it quickly became a career with me being invited to media events and being a news source for Texas theme park enthusiasts. the passion has never left and it’s the best job to cover things I love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a content creator and my channel name is JB Thrills. My art is shown in all the videos I make. Hours of tedious script writing, thumbnail design, and especially editing can be rough for some but I strive to pour every bit of quality into every video big or small. That little difference is shown in my content and especially the way I edit. Youtube channels can get repetitive after a while and my goal is to bring something fresh, especially in my niche. I’ve had fans appreciate the small stuff like that and it truly makes me feel like it was worth it no matter the view count. It wasn’t easy however. I didn’t have tons of supplies or a big budget. I started with simply my phone and with Just that I learned the art of cinematography and editing to make every video look big budget. It’s all about the passion one has that can make anything great even with little supplies. I want the world to know that my brand isn’t just about coaster enthusiasts but anyone who loves traveling to great amusement parks or daring to ride tons of attractions. Everyone is invited to enjoy the thrill and fun different parks have and all I’m doing is showing where people should check out and visit or inspiring them to conquer fears and ride something they won’t regret.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My viewers would probably predict this answer but a road trip visiting different parks. It could be california, Florida or even here in Texas. I typically never like to go alone to theme parks because everything is always better with friends so by inviting a close friend the trip would already be better. I might be biased but after recently going to Florida universal is a great park to check out, never have I been to such a fun place with so many things to see so I definitely recommend visiting there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off I would like to give huge thanks to my family. If there was someone who had to meet the definition of supportive it would be them. They never doubted my insane ideas to create videos on roller coasters and dedicated so much time and effort to take me places before I could drive on my own. My mom, my dad, and my 3 siblings are the original supporters of my channel. I also thank God. I know not everyone is religious but my faith has also played a big role in my motivation and belief that my videos can later make a big impact. If it weren’t for faith I couldn’t believe I would be capable of these things, however time has shown I can and others can too with just big leaps in faith.
