We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Lahoud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of LaProng Jewelers is having such a unique niche and value proposition. The fact that we offer more than an ordinary engagement or wedding ring makes us stand out in the crowded bridal jewelry market.

Offering a hands-on experience where people can come to a jewelry studio and physically make a ring with their own hands, for their significant other, is profoundly sentimental. We invest the time with our clients to give them more than a product. We offer an unforgettable experience that is fun, and educational. In the end, they have a high-quality product they are proud of. This type of concept has sold itself. Couples today are looking for meaning and authentic experiences, and our business fills this demand in the bridal jewelry market.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LaProng Jewelry isn’t just a place to buy a ring, it’s a crucible where memories and craftsmanship meld together to forge something exceptional. We have carved out a unique niche in the bridal jewelry market by focusing on an interactive, hands-on approach. We provide the tools, the guidance, and the inspiration—our clients bring their love and dedication to create a ring that’s not just worn, but treasured.

And we’re proud—immensely proud—of what sets us apart. The personal engagement our customers experience as they work to craft their own symbols of love speaks volumes. It’s about involvement and the joy of making; it’s not something that can be replicated in a traditional retail setting.

From our inception, we knew this wasn’t going to be easy. There were no blueprints to follow, no tried and tested paths for a DIY concept. The idea of customers becoming bench jewelers in their own right was novel. Each challenge we faced was a lesson in disguise. We learned that it wasn’t enough to have a novel idea; our success depended on our ability to communicate the value of this experience. We invested in storytelling on social media and showcasing the magical moments that happen within our studio walls. We made transparency a priority, ensuring that every participant feels comfortable and supported throughout the process.

It’s through overcoming these difficulties that our business philosophy was refined. We believe in the power of experience, in the bonds that form when you pour your love into a creation. Our clients leave not just with jewelry, but with a story—a beginning that they’ve authored together.

We want the world to know that LaProng is more than a brand. It’s a celebration of love, creativity, and togetherness. We want our story to inspire, to showcase how passion and innovation can transform a traditional industry. LaProng isn’t just about selling rings; it’s about creating legacies, one handcrafted piece at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always recommend starting off with a good breakfast from area favorites like the Old West Cafe, Breadwinners, Norma’s Cafe, or breakfast tacos from Rudy’s.

The Grandscape area is full of interesting places to explore and the Star in Frisco isn’t far away. The Truck Yards has a great vibe in both Dallas and the Colony. Hard 8s BBQ is great and in that area.

Always good to catch a Mavs or Stars game at AAC, or check out Arlington for a Rangers or Cowboys game.

Grapevine is also a great stop for wine tasting and checking out their downtown area.

So much to do in DFW!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my parents! Giving credit to my parents is at the heart of my gratitude. Their hard work and dedication not only shaped the business but also to who I am as an individual. The jewelry store, more than just a family business, was a workshop where life’s most valuable lessons were learned.

From my father, I learned the art of precision and patience. The craft of a bench jeweler is one of intricate detail, requiring a steady hand and a discerning eye. Hours spent observing him manipulate delicate materials into beautiful artifacts showed me the importance of dedication to one’s craft. This has been the cornerstone of LaProng’s reputation for excellence.

My mother’s role at the front of the store was equally influential. Her ability to connect with customers, to understand their stories and what they were really looking for, taught me that business is not just about transactions but relationships. It’s the empathetic approach to customer service she demonstrated that helps create a loyal customer base and a welcoming atmosphere that LaProng is known for.

Their combined influence instilled in me a sense of pride and responsibility, which I carry forward in every endeavor. Each piece of jewelry we create at LaProng is a testament to their legacy—a blend of skill, care, and personal touch. They deserve all the recognition for laying the foundation upon which LaProng stands today.
