We had the good fortune of connecting with Johanna Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johanna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always wanted to do social media and after a couple of years thinking about it I finally decided to do it. There is never a right time so I just went for it. I’m not from the USA. I came to this country 10 years ago and obviously it was a challenge for me to create content in English since it’s not my native language. However, little by little I’m trying to open a path for myself and all the Latinas out there just like me who create content in both languages.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Latina in the USA and create fashion and beauty content in English and Spanish. I believe what it sets me apart from others is that I create content in English which its not common for latinas creators that are not from the USA. As I said before it is extremely hard because its not my native language. I have a strong accent and it is hard for me to compete in a market where the majority of content creators speak perfect English .. that has been a challenge for me . I work full time, I have 2 boys under 3, I have my content creator business… I do it all ! I have learn a lot of things along the way, one of them is that there is never a right time to start doing something that you want to do.. maybe sounds like a cliche but its true… so my advise is just go for it
other thing that I have learned is that things are not as easy as they look… people think that creating content is super easy but it actually requires a lot of time …
I would like people to know me, know my brand, and have fun together along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will show them all the places I love in North Dallas. The Star, legacy west, Hurtados BBQ, Hutchins BBQ. I’ll also take them for a quick trip to Fredericksburg to go wine tastings. Float the Guadalupe River. The River walk in San Antonio while enjoying some Mexican food and margaritas

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my parents, if it wasn’t for them, I would not be here. I came to the USA under a student visa and my parents helped me to make that dream come true. Also my husband and my two boys, who encouraged me to go and fight for my dreams! They are my biggest fans. Finally, my content creator friends who also motivate me to keep going no matter the circumstances.
