We had the good fortune of connecting with Joann Cuccurullo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joann, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My journey into Pilates came after years in the real estate world. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, but I also saw a need in the Pilates industry: a space where instructors—especially women—could thrive financially and professionally under one roof, instead of hustling between multiple studios.
That vision became the foundation for Classic Pilates. Over a decade later, I’m proud of how far it’s come.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Classic Pilates, we’re more than just a workout spot—we’re a boutique studio focused on Classical Pilates, offering private sessions tailored to every client’s needs. Whether you’re learning the method from scratch, rehabbing an injury, or simply looking to level up, we’re here for it.
Our small group classes are intentionally intimate—perfect for those who thrive in a community setting. We stay true to Joseph Pilates’ original method and incorporate all apparatus to maintain the integrity of the work. That commitment helps people move better, feel better, and ultimately live better.
We’ve had the privilege of working with elite NBA and NFL athletes who come to us to enhance performance and stay strong through injury recovery. Pilates challenges them in new ways, both physically and mentally. Whether you’re stepping onto a court, field, or into a boardroom, the goal is the same: feel stronger walking out than you did walking in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s nothing quite like catching a Mavs game at the American Airlines Center—especially when it’s just steps from home in Victory Park. The energy is electric, and when they win? Even better. Lately, I’ve been spending more time on the courts myself after joining Brookhaven Country Club. Their tennis facilities are top-tier, and it’s been a great way to stay active outside the studio.
When it comes to dining and socializing, Shinsei remains a favorite, but I’m also loving how Dallas is constantly evolving—new restaurants are popping up all the time, and the culinary scene just keeps leveling up.
With both my studio and my home just a few blocks from the Katy Trail, any sunny day is an invitation to get outside. You’ll usually find me out there walking with my Frenchie, Porscha—she keeps the pace and the vibe just right.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a huge thank you to the incredible team at Classic Pilates. Their passion, consistency, and positive energy make this studio a place people genuinely love coming to—myself included. Some of our instructors bring 15 to 20 years of experience, and we’re always learning from one another to refine our craft. That kind of environment fuels both personal growth and exceptional teaching.
And to Tracy Rathbun—thank you for always sharing your wisdom and encouragement. It means the world.
