We had the good fortune of connecting with Jo Cox Williams Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jo Cox Williams, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Dedication to work and the willingness to persevere. when I have failed to meet my own expectations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a professional watercolor painter and instructor. I have been working about forty years to hone my painting skills, and I have been teaching privately throughout that time. One of the challenges I faced early was finding venues for teaching, so I purchased my own building in 1993. I maintained my studio and a gallery. there for several years but ultimately I moved my studio home, I have been teaching at the local art center and leading groups in plein aire workshops throughout the southwest and France. Throughout my forty-year career.

My life work has been challenging, but it has also been extremely rewarding. Painting and teaching bring me great joy!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Denton, I would take a guest to the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center to see the exhibits on view. I would also take them to the Denton Civic Center, the Denton Municipal Building, and the South Branch Library to view some of the public art at those venues. I would take them on a walk to E. Hickory Street and to the Greenhouse Restaurant to eat.

I would also take a guest to Fort Worth to the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fort Worth Modern, and the Amon Carter Museum. While visiting those, we would dine at the cafe at the Fort Worth Modern.

Then I would take a guest to Dallas to the DMA, the Trammell Crow Sculpture Garden, and to the Meadows Museum at SMU. We would dine at Celebration Restaurant.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
